Mary asks…

Graduated college with a Marketing degree. Now i work in Sales and I hate it. Anyone have ideas for a career?

Ok, I have a business bachelors degree with a Major in Marketing. I’m 24 years old and I have had two different jobs since college, both in Sales, and I have hated both of them. I am at a confused point in my life and am trying to figure out what direction i should go. If anyone can relate to my situation or possibly give me guidance as to which direction I should go with a new career, I am all ears! Thanks very much!

Hi
If you are still interested in marketing (but without having to sell in the traditional way) you might want to look into affiliate marketing. It’s a way of marketing on the internet. (You probably already knew that!)
You don’t deal with people face-to-face, you don’t speak to them or deal with their questions etc. You also don’t need to buy any products yourself. Your job is simply to send potential customers to the seller’s website. You can do this via an ad words campaign among other ways. Any sales that result from you sending that person to the website are tracked via a coded link and you get a commission. I make about $20 – $70 commission on average for every affiliate sale I make. You can make a lot of money with this method but there’s a lot to learn – although not compared with doing a degree! I did a design degree, this is way easier!
The other thing I do is Network Marketing which has had some bad press in the past but now is studied in some Universities. It’s been great for me, I started about 15 years ago and have a totally passive income now. The key is, find a good quality consumable product so you can focus your time on sponsoring, not selling. Also, stick at it. Most people only fail because they quit too soon!
Hope that helps! Best of luck Jo

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Degree

David asks…

I would like to study Internet Marketing and Web design?

I would like to do a homestudy course of some sort that offers support and training in this area. I am in Australia don’t know if that matters. Can anyone help?

barry0912 answers:

If I were you, I would call up the local schools in your area (universities etc) and see if they offer marketing courses online. Many schools are going this way and you can often get a degree when you are done.

Secondly you can try schools like the University of Phoenix which puts a ton of courses online for people to study abroad. There are plenty of these “online schools” out there now and many of them do Internet marketing and web design since that course lends itself to the Internet pretty easily.

Just check their references, make sure they are legit, that they have a physical address and give them a call. See how they handle your call, are they professional? See if anyone else has had success with them. Do your research.

Good luck on the marketing course search!

Internet SEO Marketing Question?

What could be expected as a “normal paid conversion percentage” using clickbank to sell a training program to make money online in the cellular phone industry, purchaser buys training program online for S 49.50 that teaches them how to market a free website that they are given with the training Program.

Out of every 100 visitors from Quality online traffic, how many would convert with a solid offer that is backed wirh a 60 day money-back guarantee – that states if they do not earn at least $1000.00 in the first 60 days – by simply applying what they are taught in the training program they will receive a refund for training program.

How much of a difference would it make regarding “paid conversion percentage” if the offer was $19.95 verses $ 49.50?

barry0912 answers:

There isn’t any set percentage as such. It completely and completely depends on your content, copywriting, landing page, graphics, page rank and a list of other things. But lets say you get almost everything right to some degree, i am talking about from my experience, i get about minimum 1-4 % conversion percentage, out of 100 visitors.

Now let me clarify, getting 100 visitors is no parameter for your internet SEO marketing question. Im talking about 100 “ready to buy” visitors, who have done their research and are completely motivated to find the solution rightaway. As a rule i dont draw people looking just for information. I talk straight to the point and i write articles in and around the buying part of it.

Well, Internet SEO Marketing techniques also depend on the selection of your product you want to promote, the niche, existing competition and the quality of their respective landing pages. So in a way, there is no yardstick, its all upto your SEO and content writing skills.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Services

Carol asks…

Where is the best place to advertise for Virtual Assistant Services?

I have recently set up a virtual assistance company with a team of 5 virtual assitance who can do literally anything which is web based or pc based. The problem, where do i advertise and how do i market for this service. How do find clients?

barry0912 answers:

Marketing is key to your service, as with any business. As you’re geared for working on the web and with PC’s, make full use of the internet for marketing. Make sure your site is optimised for the search engines. Become involved in sites/blogs/directories that relate to your target market.

Networking groups are a good way of meeting business people who need help with the things that a Virtual Assistant can do.

Are you UK based? Business Link and Chambers of Commerce both run regular events.

Please feel free to contact me for information on other groups in the UK

Good luck!

David asks…

What is the greatest obstacle to finding an internet marketing mentor?

One of the things that the majority of folks most often misunderstand about finding an internet mentor to help them out is they tend to think they have to pay enormous sums of money for a consultant, a coaching program or some other such thing…do you find this to be the case?

barry0912 answers:

There are really two sides to this coin with a variety of hungry vultures hanging out on each.

FREE ADVICE
Ever hear the old adage that you get what you pay for? To a certain extent it’s true. However, you will indeed find many sites that offer free advice. The problem is, unless your a smart Internet Marketer your not going to know the good advice from the bad. What’s worse, since you are needing the advice it’s likely that you have not gained all the wisdom you are looking for yet. This ends up being a vicious circle with no real end.

That’s why SEO & Beyond provides a free website analysis for anyone who asks (at least they do as of this writing). They believe that doing so goes beyond advice into actively participating in the lives of those who are looking to use their service.

You can check out more about that at the following link.

I was quite pleased with the review they gave my http://commit2fit.info website.

PAID ADVICE
If you are going to have someone train you to be a successful Internet Marketer, then find someone willing to give you some type of guarantee.

“If our system doesn’t work for you, then you don’t pay a dime!”

It’s a gutsy approach to be sure. But it goes beyond the idea of pay us all your money and you will be a success approach. With this method you don’t know if you are being sucker punched or not and all you have to show for it in the end will be absolutely nothing.

I do know that there are indeed many people out there willing to provide a ton of advice if you pay them. I don’t know if anyone has the guts to work by the above approach. If I did I would probably sign up for their course in a second. When paying for a mentor or what not the heavy burden for success should be on the shoulders of the one providing the assistance rather than the one paying the bill.

THE MORAL
Pay for a mentor if and only if the mentor believes in their services enough to give you an awesome guarantee otherwise stick with the free advice; or better yet free website reviews.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Forum

Richard asks…

What are some of the best ways to make money off the internet?

I have a bunch of website urls, was going to try some keyword arbitradge, ppc and affiliate marketing, but looking for more ideas….

barry0912 answers:

Too bad everyone is trying to make money off you by posting there affiliate links!!! Thats really funny. Anyway, if you want to make cash Go to different internet marketing forums, Check out what other people are doing. If you do not already have a website you might want to start off with affiliate marketing. Go to Clickbank, Commission Junction, Onenetwork, or all the other places, find out what you would like to market, Sign up for an affiliate id. You can market your products via-adwords (Please first do the adwords training on Googles site) This is the best free adword training you can get. Many people may want you to purchase there ebook on how to use adwords, forget about that just go to googles adword training for free, and you will get just as much information. If adwords is not your thing you can always go to different forums directly related to the product that you are marketing and become a member to the forum, Edit your signature file to have your affiliate link in it, and start posting comments.(not spam, stay on what ever topic that you are working on) And do not forget about overture PPC, advertise on there also with your affiliate links. Me personally I would say create a generic website on the topic that you are looking to market, create articles (Search engines love fresh content) And you can offer you products on the website. The key is to try to get optin-leads. Have a capture page that allows people to sign up for your newsletters, once you have a clients information you can always market products later on. Just remember do not spend all your money buying products that will teach you how to make money on the internet. People buy buy buy but never take action. If you do purchase a program, stick with it until you are making money and do not give up at all. What seperates real Internet marketers from the one’s who are making no money? Its the ability to create a project(or buy one) Stick with it and never give up on it. Anyway, I hope this helps you out a little!!! Check out my blog sometime, My goal is to make 1 million dollars in 1 year. I will not start my heavy marketing until jan 1st. And there will be lots of free information that you can use there. BTW if anyone every tells you you cant make 500K+ a year on the internet, its because they are BROKE and they have a weak money blueprint.

John asks…

Im a local artist..Can anyone give me any creative music marketing ideas on creating more exposure for myself?

I have read several marketing books and are just looking to see if anyone has any creative marketing techniques that would benefit me.

barry0912 answers:

First you should access your own friend network and show them a sample of your work. Then request that they show their friends to see if any of them realy like what your doing. That technique in networking. It should be realy usefull since your local and it’s always nice to hear someone from the area. Suprisingly though, there are people around the world who would also like to here your local music simply because it’s foreign. What you should do then is have it published online where upon you can make money from the internet. You should also post a link to your sales page and about your music in any forum and blog posts you make. That way you can market your product in a signature of something without much hassle. Furthermore, you could even go to the extent of some new angle. I hearrd there is a new way to market called weed-sharing. Unsure, so look it up. It’s like you make your musi free and you make money from advertiseing or something. Anyway..goodluck , and I hope your stuff sells!
