Your Questions About Title 9

William asks…

What is the NCAA Title 9 (IX) rule?

I still don’t understand what the rule is. And why do they stop some colleges from participating in some sports in regard to the rule

barry0912 answers:

I’m very passionate about women’s sports and I’ve played many throughout my life. This is the best answer I can give you:

In 1972, Congress passed the Educational Amendments to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. One important section of this law, Title IX, changed the landscape of intercollegiate athletics, especially for women. It states: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance” (Salter 6).

Title IX meant greater opportunity for women’s participation in college athletics traditionally only available to men and effected women’s lives in a positive manner.

In the 35 years following the passage of Title IX in 1972, the federal legislation that mandates equal opportunities for men and women, has prompted significant increases in participation opportunities for high school and college female athletes. Many advances have been made for girls and women in sport, but equity has yet to be achieved. However, major discrepancies still exist in the area of facilities, travel schedules, and support services, and equity in equipment provided. We have yet to reach the point of fairness in America’s education sports programs.

Michael asks…

When will the discriminatory law, Title 9 finally end?

barry0912 answers:

Title 9 is NOT discriminatory.

Title IX was put in place to guarantee women had equal access to sports – that’s the opposite of discriminatory.

College presidents are using Title IX as an excuse to cut sports programs that don’t make the university money.

Your Questions About Title Insurance

Mandy asks…

What value does a real estate lawyer add on top of title insurance?

If title insurance already protects against:
– survey errors
– legal description errors
– negligence
– forgery
– liens

and negates the need for:
– zoning compliance certificate
– tax certificate
– hydro/water/gas certificates
– law society levy

what value does a real estate lawyer add on top?

Is it just for wading through the legalese in the Offer and the Agreement?

barry0912 answers:

Depends on the transaction, if it’s a refinance, I would tend to agree with you even though I don’t understand what you mean by stating title insurance negates the need for tax and water certificate. I’d also be cautious of the legal description errors. I had a situation in NY, purchase, where the deed to the property did not contain a legal description at all. The previous title company would not give us a letter of indemity for our title and then come to find out our title underwriter would not accept it, the original deed had to be found and re-recorded, no exception, so I guess it depends on what you mean by “errors” On a purchase transaction, they usually add more value due to the purchase contracts and drafting of deeds, etc. To be bluntly honest, most attorneys usually dont even touch the file unless there is a major problem, their paralegals handle the day to day operations

Lisa asks…

Who is responsible for selling a bad title insurance policy?

I had property line dispute with my neighbor and my title insurance policy(First American Title Insurance Company) does not want to pay my $7k attorney fees for preparing the claim . They did not cover my out of pocket legal fees. I was sold a crappy policy 10 years ago when I purchased my residence. Who is in charge of choosing the title insurance company? Escrow company or the agent?

barry0912 answers:

Normally the real estate agent or the escrow officer select a title company they are accustom to working with. This is prevalent throughout the mortgage and real estate industry.

What the real estate agent or escrow loan or loan officer fail to tell their clients is that they may select the services of their choice.

Even if your title was not in excess of 10 year the title company only guarantee that liens against the property after your purchase would be paid and you would be getting a clean title to the property. You did not get a crappy title insurance policy.

I have used First American Title Insurance and have found them to be a competent title company over the years.

In most states and counties a property has been assigned a lot and parcel number with the dimension recorded at the county court where the property is located. If there is a dispute about the property as to where it ends and how much is yours, then you would have to hire a survey company to complete a survey to determine property lines.

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing

Lizzie asks…

Internet Marketing, What Is It? ?

How can I learn more about Internet Marketing and what it is?

barry0912 answers:

Internet Marketing is the same as Marketing Online over the internet.
Also known as eMarketing or Web Marketing.

It is the same as selling stuff over the internet, which means you need to have a website and know ways to promote it over the internet. This is where Internet Marketing comes into the picture.

Good luck on your quest.

Sandy asks…

what are advantages/dis advantages of internet marketing?

internet marketing not internet advertising

barry0912 answers:

ADVANTAGES:
Internet marketing, also known as SEO, is typically considered the most effective form of marketing, online or offline. That is because having Internet marketing performed correctly and ethically on one’s Website allows the site to reach the most online visitors, across the most states and countries, across many search engines, for numerous keyword terms.

Other advantages include: being able to build brand recognition, a site can achieve first page keyword rankings across search engines like Google, MSN, Yahoo and others, eliminating costly PPC programs if a site is optimized naturally/organically in engines, and a site owner can see a fast ROI (return on investment).

DISADVANTAGES:
Internet marketing, while usually a monthly ongoing maintenance fee, may still seem too expensive for businesses working out of their homes or small business trying to find an affordable way to market their websites online. In addition, once an Internet marketing or SEO professional completely stops maintaining your Internet marketing program for you (and you do not considerd yourself to be a qualified professional), the rankings a site owner worked so hard to achieve in the search engines eventually drop/fall in the results (nobody working on keeping them there anymore). Getting high keyword rankings and keeping them takes ongoing commitment and time, so when nobody is there anymore to continuously work on the rankings, they will fall. One last disadvantage I can think of is that sometimes Websites simply cannot be optimized at all or have Internet marketing performed, due to a number of reasons, such as the Website was designed/built in a way that search engines cannot find or recognize pages within the site in order to optimize it (frames, flash websites, dynamic HTML pages, etc).

Robert asks…

Why do private colleges and universities comply with Title IX?

The text of the law says that it applies to schools receiving federal assistanceship. I didn’t think a school like BYU or Liberty or ORal Roberts would be receiving any, but they all have women’s teams and have had them for years.

barry0912 answers:

Even though an institution like BYU or Liberty does not accept federal funds to run its organization, it does allow it’s students to apply and receive federal student aid, such as Pell Grants and Federally guaranteed student loans. Because of this, these schools are required to comply with Title IX.

Also, I would guess that if a school was not complying with Title IX, it would not be allowed to compete in the NCAA against teams that do comply with Title IX.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Degree

David asks…

I would like to study Internet Marketing and Web design?

I would like to do a homestudy course of some sort that offers support and training in this area. I am in Australia don’t know if that matters. Can anyone help?

barry0912 answers:

If I were you, I would call up the local schools in your area (universities etc) and see if they offer marketing courses online. Many schools are going this way and you can often get a degree when you are done.

Secondly you can try schools like the University of Phoenix which puts a ton of courses online for people to study abroad. There are plenty of these “online schools” out there now and many of them do Internet marketing and web design since that course lends itself to the Internet pretty easily.

Just check their references, make sure they are legit, that they have a physical address and give them a call. See how they handle your call, are they professional? See if anyone else has had success with them. Do your research.

Good luck on the marketing course search!

Steven asks…

Internet SEO Marketing Question?

What could be expected as a “normal paid conversion percentage” using clickbank to sell a training program to make money online in the cellular phone industry, purchaser buys training program online for S 49.50 that teaches them how to market a free website that they are given with the training Program.

Out of every 100 visitors from Quality online traffic, how many would convert with a solid offer that is backed wirh a 60 day money-back guarantee – that states if they do not earn at least $1000.00 in the first 60 days – by simply applying what they are taught in the training program they will receive a refund for training program.

How much of a difference would it make regarding “paid conversion percentage” if the offer was $19.95 verses $ 49.50?

barry0912 answers:

There isn’t any set percentage as such. It completely and completely depends on your content, copywriting, landing page, graphics, page rank and a list of other things. But lets say you get almost everything right to some degree, i am talking about from my experience, i get about minimum 1-4 % conversion percentage, out of 100 visitors.

Now let me clarify, getting 100 visitors is no parameter for your internet SEO marketing question. Im talking about 100 “ready to buy” visitors, who have done their research and are completely motivated to find the solution rightaway. As a rule i dont draw people looking just for information. I talk straight to the point and i write articles in and around the buying part of it.

Well, Internet SEO Marketing techniques also depend on the selection of your product you want to promote, the niche, existing competition and the quality of their respective landing pages. So in a way, there is no yardstick, its all upto your SEO and content writing skills.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Degree

Linda asks…

Is a business degree necessary in starting a career in marketing?

Or would a degree in social sciences be ok?

barry0912 answers:

No, you do not need a business degree to start a career in marketing. You don’t need any degree at all. There are countless opportunities in marketing. Its a huge field. For example, a good friend of mine started doing internet marketing while he was studying economics. He eventually got his economics degree, but he didn’t need it. He found what he loved to do: internet marketing. If you want to get into a huge corporation in one of their entry level marketing jobs, then you’re better off with a degree. There are plenty of alternatives though. There are plenty of ways to make a living with a marketing career without any degree at all. For example, here is a possible path:

1. Get an entry level job as an “Administrative Assistant.” Make sure the job has at least some advertising/marketing duties (such as stamping envelopes to send out advertising post cards).
2. Get a year of experience at this job.
3. Revise your resume, focusing on the marketing skills you learned.
4. Apply to a new job as a “Marketing Assistant.”
5. Repeat this process every year or two. This is how you “climb the corporate ladder.”

You can build a career like this. Feel free to skip steps if you can. There is no set path. No degree is necessary for this, but a degree helps get you interviews. Eventually you could become the CEO of a multi-billion dollar marketing agency.

Good luck.

Donna asks…

law degree and then a career as a business professional?

I want to do a law degree but don’t want a law career such as one as a solicitor or barrister. I would like to become a business professional instead but don’t know what area I could go into – any ideas?

barry0912 answers:

Please be aware of what you are proposing on getting yourself into. Please do more research first.

Reminder: We are in a World-wide Recession. Consider career paths that have available jobs.<<<< Jobs in the field of Law are drying up fast!! This is just not a good field to invest time and/or money into. This is a SHRINKING, crumbling, and dying vocational field. Many reasons. Many people today (mistakenly) think they can do their own legal work, thanks to the Internet. Also, we simply already have way too many Legal Professionals – we have an absolute glut!! (“Legal Professionals” includes, but is not limited to: Attorneys/Lawyers, Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Bailiffs, Court Reporters, etc, etc)

Employers (usually law firms) in the field of Law today want employees with degrees from traditional colleges/universities. Those “certificates” you see advertised aren’t worth the paper they are printed on – they are generally scams. (I found this out the hard way.)

Cost of law school to be lawyer, approx $150,000+.
Be prepared to take on a lot of debt.

Even if you finish law school, you won’t be able to find a job when you are done. Since this vocational field is shrinking, many new attorneys/lawyers are, themselves, having to work “down” as Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Bailiffs, Court Reporters, etc, etc, to simply try to keep some of their bills paid <that the job market/economy is just saturated with way too many Legal Professionals. Instead the schools will feed you a fairytale and will lie to you. The root of the problem is we have too many law schools. We are in a recession, and the schools are fighting for their own survival – they will tell students anything to get to the students’ money. (Which is why they won’t tell you the truth about the job market for the field of Law.) And these schools continue to recruit and churn out even more graduates………….

If you don’t believe me, then just do a search here on Yahoo Answers to see what other posters are saying about the current status of the field of Law. Call some local law firms – ask to speak to the Manager of Human Resources – ask them if they are hiring; ask them what they think about job availability in the field of Law………………

In the book “So You Want to be a Lawyer?” by Marianne Calabrese and Susanne Calabrese (ISBN 0-88391-136-1): “The United States has more lawyers than any other country in the world. About 38,000 students graduate >each year>>Healthcare or Information Technology! I spoke to a career counselor from Jobs and Family Services, and HE told me that these areas are where the jobs are, and future job availability! And scholarships!

Good luck.

(This is based on my current knowledge, information, belief, and life experiences. This was intended as personal opinion, and not intended to be used as legal advice. Please be careful and do your research.)
