Your Questions About Internet Marketing News

Sandra asks…

How to get basic understanding about stock market?

What do you think the best way for me will be to get basic, beginners understanding about the share market?

I want to put some money into some shares and have done for quite some time but I have no idea about it. Reading? Which books? Jump straight into the deep end and just buy some shares and learn that way? Watch the market section of the news?

Thanks

Standard investment advice is that you should invest in a diversified mix of stocks, bonds, and money market funds. If you are like most people you will invest part of your money aggressively in stocks, and part conservatively in money market funds and bond funds. However, some young people will go all stocks, and some very conservative people will go all money markets. The links below have on-line questionnaires which will give you an idea of how to do “Asset Allocation,” determining how much to put in each type of investment.

You want to buy a diversified portfolio of stocks as individual stocks are too risky. Highly knowledgeable people can buy a properly balanced portfolio, but most folks have a difficult time balancing things on their own. They will misbalance their portfolio by buying all small stocks or all growth stocks, or some other misbalanced assortment of stocks. Back in 2000, Some people bought all Internet stocks; they got burnt when they all crashed together. You have to diversify across industries. Unless you know what you are doing, it is best to buy mutual funds that will diversify for you. Buy no-load, low cost funds. Mutual funds should have expense ratios of less than 0.5%.

If your company offers a 401K plan at work, try to invest the most you can. The money grows tax free, and some companies will match your contribution. Investing in a mutual fund IRA is also a good idea. If you have children, you may want to consider a 529 plan or other college savings plan that grows tax free.

I like index funds. Because of their broad diversification, you are less likely to have a dramatic drop in value. They also have the lowest expenses. For stock funds, I would suggest putting ~70-80% of your money in the Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund. And ~20-30% in a foreign stock index fund. The Vanguard Total Bond Market Index Fund is good for a bond fund. The Vanguard Target Retirement funds can be good all-in-one stock and bond funds for an IRA. However, there are many different opinions out there on what the best mutual funds are. Read the links below and form your own opinion.

If you have high-interest debt, like credit cards, it is best to pay this off first before trying most of the investment ideas above. You should also have 3-6 months of salary saved up as an emergency fund in a bank or money market fund before trying more risky investments.

I will warn you that there is a tremendous amount of stock investing books and websites that teach stock investing strategies that don’t work. Particularly bad are people that teach “technical analysis” systems that sound impressive, but don’t work.

Believing advice you get on Yahoo answers can be risky, so read these websites for further information. If you find it too confusing, contact a professional financial advisor. They will charge you significant commissions, however.

Linda asks…

Cheapest place to find a good stihl weedeater on internet?

I am looking for a stihl weedeater on the internet.
I live in a really small town and I have looked on craigslist and the closest one is about 5 hours away…So yes i know what that website is but I live in a small town and people don’t sale them at garage sales or put them on craigslist.

barry0912 answers:

Well first, even though i imagine you could find a decent STHL on the internet, but your question clearly says cheapest. Thus i recommend these 3 ways
1.) Local garage sales
2.)Outdoor or indoor swap meet or open air market
3.)look in news paper, penny saver,or local thrift stores

you could also try Craigslist but that’s a pretty scary venture. Too bad your not in Northern California, i have two neighbors that are tree trimmers and have 5 or 6 laying around.

Robert asks…

Which company must be chosen to work on an investment research paper?

Currently working on an investment research paper as a part of of our requirements in a course. I am choosing between working the paper on a mining company and a universal bank.

The mining company is well-known, and I believe its securities are known and being traded world-wide. Its securities are included in the Active Stocks of the stock exchange of our country. Seems that I would be able to gather a lot of information from the internet, news, and other resources. My only problem doing research for it is that I do not know how to add some things related to the pricing of its commodities. I believe that the prices move together with the world markets.

The universal bank, on the other hand, is well known to the country. Its shares are not included in the Active Stocks. It seems to me that I have lesser resources of information than that of the mining company. I am a little bit familiar with the operations of a bank.

Please help me which of them to choose to work on the paper. Thank you. =)

barry0912 answers:

Mining companies own land or mineral rights in areas rich in mineral deposits. They extract ore (rock containing the mineral) And refine it into some pure commodity such as copper, aluminum, iron or whatever. All commodities trade daily on the New York Mercantile exchange just like stocks trade daily on the NYSE. That is the price that they can sell the commodity for on any given day. The stock prices of these companies tend to move in relation to the commodity price.

Banks on the other hand have depositors that deposit money. They take that money and loan it out at a higher interest rate. The interest spread is theoretically their gross profit.

There is lots written on the internet about the big mining companies so I would choose that company.

Paul asks…

Has anyone researched this story online regarding the Osama Bin Laden killed conspiracy theory?

This story last week got Yahoo message board comments shut down, manipulated, and deleted. Posing as internet copywriters and experts, here are some FBI MOST WANTED terrorists, some for U.S. embassy bombings in Kenya & Indonesia.

Mark Joyner Simpleology-Seif Al Adel (Sarah Palin’s book Palinology)
John Ferrero-Ramadan Shallah
Yaro Starak-Umar Patek
Armand Morin-Noordin M Top (said to have been “killed” years ago in Indonesia)
Michael Filsaime-Ali Sayyid Muhamed Mustafa al-Bakri (Die Hard 4 “Fire Sale” the cyber attack on our infrastructure)
Dr. Mani Sivasubramanian-Ammar Mansour Bouslim
Carl Galletti-Ahmed Garbaya, Samir Salwwan
Ted Ciuba-Abdul Rahman Yasin
Willie Crawford-Fazul Mohammed
Shay Patil-Atiyah Abd al-Rahman

The Osama bin Laden dead, killed, conspiracy story is a total hoax to distract you. These people posing as internet marketing experts and copywriters are behind all affiliate marketing education online, mystery shopping, paid surveys, and thousands of get-rich-quick websites. This massive organization also appears to have run the last election on Youtube. After breaking this code and reporting to the FBI, I’ve been relentlessly tortured now for over 3 years.

Want proof that the Osama Bin Laden killed story last week isn’t only a conspiracy, it’s a hoax? Here is a code of LOOK A LIKES for media moguls, CEO’s, and the current administration. Search Google Images for;

Jay Abraham-Ayman al-Zawahri (Osama’s right hand man)
Jay Conrad Levinson-George Soros (collapsing of nations currencies)
Rosalind Gardner-Jill Biden
Internet Million Dollars Professor James Bradley-Bill Ayers (Pentagon bomber)
Stephen Pierce-Van Jones
Perry Marshall-Reverend Pfleger
Brett McFall-Austan Goolsbee
John Childers-Andy Stern
Howard L Moreland-Michael Moore
Yanik Silver-Sergei Brin (Ex Google CEO)
John Carlton-Jeff Bridges (Liberalist “the dude”)
Carleton Sheets-Jimmy Carter
Oprah Winfrey’s galpal Gayle King-Whit_ney Hous_ton
Stedman Gram-Eric Holder
Youtube’s-Rich Jerk videos-American Airlines Stadium NBA Maverick Mark Cuban
Youtube’s-Robert Johnson Rich Jerk-Tony Rezko
The Rich Jerk’s first email to millions promoted Stompernet in Atlanta Georgia with 777 airline pilot Brad Fallon, and Eben Pagan pitching a seminar called Get Altitude. 3 Days after reporting my finding to the FBI, Delta in Atlanta cancelled a large number of flights for “safety reasons”
Lorrie Morgan Ferrero’s Red-Hot-Copy.com website has others associated with the current administration such as; 72 Virgin Records Richard Branson, & White House Party Crashers the Salahi’s with Valerie Jarrett’s daughter Laura.

Here’s more proof that the Osama Bin Laden killed story is a conspiracy;

Sarah Palin never existed until months after I contacted the FBI. Her family & history is fabricated using logarithms. She became a media magnet to flush out Barack (O’Bomber) Obama’s socialist “organized community.” Maverick Sarah (Barrac)uda) Palin, is short for palindrome, such as SOROS. Maverick McCain’s likes ABBA, another palindrome. First forum to hack me online was FIB Scams 101 with the owner called Mama. Palin coined the term “mama” grizzly. Under investigation for insider trading of a search company called Mamma, was Interstate 77 American Airlines Stadium NBA Maverick Mark Cuban. On 9/11 flight 77 American Airlines hit the Pentagon. Palin’s daughter “Willow,” is short for Willow Run Airport off I-94, her birthday 7/7/94. “Piper,” also a plane, shares a birthday with Bruce Willis (John McC(l)ane the guy who fights the terrorists in Die Hard.) Sarah’s “siblings” are Heather Heath Bruce & Molly Heath McCa(n)n. “Trig” shares a birthday with 3 congressmen from WI, IL, and MI. “Track” shares a birthday with Adolf Hitler. Obama shares a birthday with Nobel Peace Prize winner Yasser Arafat. “Tripp” Palin has multiple birthdays, like Yasser.

In my strongest opinion, Osama Bin Laden is a conspiracy, a spokesperson, and a look-a-like. Osama represents Obama/Biden (Bi)n La(den.)

WHEN THIS STORY STARTED GETTING COPIED, MESSAGE BOARD COMMENTS GOT MANIPULATED, SHUT DOWN, ALTERED, AND DELETED. THIS CODE IS BEING SUPPRESSED SHARE THIS WITH EVERY MEDIA ORGANIZATION OUTSIDE THE U.S.

Maria asks…

How do large .com companies get a huge amount of “buyers & sellers” on the 1st day they’re open for business?

I’ve been doing internet marketing for awhile and I know all the basic techniques of how to drive traffic to a site, but what about really large sites such as Ebay. Ebay because they sell “almost anything” would need their site populated with hundreds of thousands of things on the launch day so that when buyers come and they search they might be able to find what they are looking for. But where do they get ten thousand or more sellers to populate their site before they even launch the site. And where do they get thousands of buyers in one day to come to the site so they can purchase from the site?

You can use the same formula with other sites like forums. Without anyone posting in a forum no one will add new topics because they don’t expect an answer.

barry0912 answers:

One way to “start at full speed” is pre-launch hype (PR). But, more often, big sites like eBay start small and grow. When it comes to forums, having launched a few, I can tell you that it isn’t unusual to “preseed” them with questions and answers, and again to do a lot of marketing and promotion around the launch.

Hey there Lance, getting traffic can be a pain. Whats really been working for me lately is mobile traffic, buying this through admob, adfonic, jumptap, inmobi, buzzcity… These are all mobile paid advertizing. However your landing pages or sites have to be mobile optimized, I highly recommend doing this as mobile is the dominate future for marketing online. I am in affiliate marketing and I use CPA networks which work very well for me. Dont forget free traffic from article marketing, blogging, social sites etc. There are endless options for marketing and its always changing. Feel free to contact me for more info on this subject. I hope this helps! I could never type all I have learned in this box lol.. I am willing to assist you with any question or conserns. Im no “expert” but I have learned what I know from experts and can at least teach you that. I do very well with internet marketing and have not invested much money in services other than paid traffic. 🙂

Think about the conversation between the systems development team and the people from Marathon Vitamin shop?

1.INTRODUCTION MARATHON VITAMIN SHOPS

Marathon Vitamin Shops was successful in getting its Web site up and running. The Web developers put the company’s entire catalog online and included a choice of skins so that each type of customers would enjoy using the Web site.

The analysts are meeting with owner Bill Berry and some employees to evaluate customers’ feedback as well as give their own reactions to the new Web site. They are meeting in a large conference room, where they have a computer with Internet access and a projector. As they sit down at the table, the entry screen for the Web site is projected at the front of the room. “The Website has attracted lots of attention, but we want to give the customers even more so that they keep coming back,” says Bill, gesturing to the screen.

He continues. “It’s not like we’re closing our retail stores or any thing. In fact, it’s just the opposite. When customers notice we’re on the Web, they’re eager to locate the store in their community. They want to be able to walk into store and talk to a trained expert rather than buying everything over the Internet. We need to tell people how to get there.”

“We think we can improve the site by adding special enhancements and features, ‘says AI Falfa, a member of the systems team, who originally developed and implemented the ecommerce Web site.

“Yes,” says Ginger Rute one of the other members of the systems development team, as she nods in agreement.” Blockbuster and Borders use a mapping facility from MapQuest, and Home Depot uses maps from Microsoft Vicinity, which also produces MapBlast!”

Vita Minn, another member of the original systems development team, speaks up enthusiastically, saying, “We know of a couple good message board service and chat rooms we can build into our Web site. We think they can improve the stickiness of the site, making people stay on the site longer and also making them want to return.”

“That’s a great idea, “says Jin Singh, one of the technologically savvy Marathon employees. “We can let customers talk with one another; tell each other about a product they liked, and so on. We could even let them start their own blogs.”

Vita continues by moving to the computer keyboard and saying, “Let me show you the sites at www.planetgov.com and www.worldviewer.com.” As she types in the first URL, the group sees the site projected. “They use chat systems from ichat and Multicity.com, respectively,” she continues.

“Customers also need to search for more information about a product or manufacturer,” AI adds. “Let’s make it easier for them. Let’s look at www.Cincinnati.com for an example. They use Atomz to search for information. “

After listening intently, Bill speaks up. “Medical information could also be useful” he says. “I’ve notice that www.medpool.com has medical news from NewsEdge. I’ve seen people on the treadmills at my health and fitness centre watching the financial channels while they exercise.”

“While we’re at it, why don’t we add news and financial information to the web site?” Ginger asks. “I notice that www.nmmm.com has market news from a company called Moreover.com.”

Think about the conversation between the systems development team and the people from Marathon Vitamin shops. Some of the enhancement suggestions involve taking advantage of free service; others required payments ranging from $1000 to $5000 annually. Although some were good ideas, others may not be practical or feasible. Perhaps some of the ideas just do not make sense for the company.

For each of the following, review what you know about the mission and business activities of Marathon Vitamin Shops. Then make a critical and analytical recommendation regarding each option the analyst and client have made and defend it:
Mashups using Google Maps
Chat rooms and message boards
Blogs
Search engines
Medical information
News feeds and financial markets information.

Subsequently choose any 4 suitable options based on your critical analysis and recommendation and develop the sites to value add Marathon Vitamin Shops.
