Lizzie asks…

How do you find facebook as a marketing channel?

There are various ways to market your product online and social marketing is just one of those. In comparison with other strategies such as article marketing how heavy do you use facebook as one of your strategies to market a product?

barry0912 answers:

Facebook can be a lucrative internet marketing strategy if used effectively. You can’t just use one strategy though, and you have to know that Facebook is more of a branding opportunity, and most successful businesses will not use it to sell products directly, but indirectly (if that makes sense).

Why?

Because building a successful online business isn’t about using one channel, it’s about using multiple internet marketing strategies together. Lately there is so much hype about using Facebook to market products online. This is completely wrong. People are on Facebook to connect with people, not businesses.

The way people use the internet is much different than old school brick and mortar business. It’s not selling to users, it’s users having the option to make there own decisions…just a click away.

You need to look at marketing on Facebook as permission based and 99.99% of people will not buy products or services if they “like” your business, or friend request you. Top internet marketers will agree that successful online business is not about getting, it’s about giving. That principle even holds more true to Facebook marketing. This is a direct channel to provide value to potential customers, free reports, thoughtful information, humorous tidbits of information sometimes seemingly unrelated to your business.

If potential customers see you as not selling, there more likely to look into what you do, consequently resulting in more traffic and more business.

If you have any questions about that let me know.

Sincerely,

The Wealth Kid

Can Anyone suggest an excellent Affiliate Network that caters to Pay-per-lead program?

i am planning to venture into Internet marketing. since i don’t have time to create a product of my own, i would rathre do Affiliate marketing on pay per lead program. I just think that this is easier than pay per sale and more lucrative than pay per click.

What do you think? I am on the right track?

I am an overseas worker away from family so i am looking for additional income so i can go home for good and still have some source of income.

barry0912 answers:

I don’t want to dash your hopes, but none of these are going to create you the income you may hope and desire. The market is all ready over saturated with this and to even make a dent you would have to create some extremely powerful ad copy to make you stand out beyond everyone else.

So many people do this and just spend time clicking, submitting, etc. And never make much of anything despite what ads proclaim. What’s worse than this is those who sell subscriptions to help boost your income and make it easier. The only income being boosted is by the one who just took your money.

After having tried all this ‘easy stuff and free stuff’ over and over again. I gave up, rolled up my sleeves, found a good solid 5 pillars company and started marketing for them. Yes, starting a home based business requires a small investment, however, after you spend enough trying different things that don’t work and start adding up what you have spent, you could have started in the right direction the first time. Just my thoughts.

I wrote a blog on advice for working from home. There is a link in the 2nd paragraph of my profile here on answers. I invite you to read it and it’s all generic information. If I can help any further let me know.

A combination of the two would be the best.

barry0912 answers:

Network marketing companies often have distributors recruit people by phone.
Flag this photo

Network marketing, also called multilevel marketing, is the process of recruiting a team of distributors to help you market a company’s products. Network marketing is a completely legitimate business opportunity, according to Entrepreneur magazine. Many large manufacturers operate on principles similar to network marketing, distributing their wares through multiple levels such as wholesalers and retailers before reaching the consumer. There are many types of network marketing companies, some of which are more common than others.

Nutritional Companies
Nutritional companies are the most common type of network marketing company, based on the “Top 25” list of network marketing companies at Nexera, an online reference and training site. Nutritional businesses are so popular because people generally like the products. These items are also highly consumable, and most distributors purchase these products monthly with an automatic shipment plan. People like nutritional products because they lose weight or experience increased energy when using them. Therefore, nutritional products also have wide appeal in the network marketing industry. Nutritional network marketing companies usually create many different brochures, tapes and videos to help their distributors recruit members into their businesses. Most nutritional network marketing companies also use conference call systems and postcard mailing systems to increase the success of their distributors.

Internet Service Companies
Anyone who reads business opportunity magazines knows that various Internet products also sell well through network marketing. People need a domain name or uniform resource locator (URLs), which is the location where customers find business websites on the Internet, for their businesses. Other popular Internet network marketing products include web hosting, web design software, auto responders and email marketing systems. All online companies need web hosts from which to run their sites. Yahoo! Is one example of a web host. Businesses usually pay web hosts a monthly rental fee to keep their websites active. Auto responders are software tools that send out automatic emails to customers or potential customers. Email marketing systems are software packages that allow online marketers to send out thousands of emails simultaneously.

Information Products
There are also companies that sell information products via network marketing. In 2011, more informational product distributors are selling ebooks. The advantage of selling ebooks is that they cost the company little or nothing to create. The information products network marketing company does not have to pay to ship ebooks out to people. Ebooks are usually downloaded onto people’s computers automatically when payment is received. Still, some information products companies will distribute cassette tapes, CDs and video instructions to distributors participating in their business.

Cosmetics and Personal Care Companies
Some of the oldest network marketing companies, including Mary Kay and Avon, got started selling cosmetics, perfumes and personal care products. These items are purchased and consumed fairly regularly, which makes them ideal for network marketing. Many cosmetics and personal care companies use the party plan method for selling their wares. Distributors ask people to throw shows or parties where they show their wares to invited guests. Some distributors prefer to just make commissions from selling products. However, those who become managers usually recruit other distributors and earn commissions off their distributors’ sales as well.

Chris asks…

Does SEO work on factual websites?

I have a website that displays facts about Boeing’s airplanes. I do not have a internet marketing company. I want to know if there are any websites that offer optimization for factual types of websites, and if they are hacked, or not.

barry0912 answers:

Here is some simple SEO tips for a site based on displaying facts:

1. Presents the facts in a descriptive manner instead of just phrasing it in 2-3 words.

2. Include the potential search terms in your description. Many times you would skip some words since it is easy for humans to guess, but search engines can’t guess them

For example, see this sentence:

“A big Boeing airplane is 20 tons”

A human can easily figure out that you are talking about the weight of the airplane. But a search engine can’t find that out. If someone search for “what is the weight of a Boeing airplane”, your page will not show up in search results because there is nothing in the content that indicate you are talking about the weight.

If you rephrase the FACT like this, it will bring much more SEO benefits:

“Are you surprised wondering what would be the weight of a Boeing airplane? The biggest Boeing airplane weights about 20 tons.”

See how I inserted some of the keywords like “weight of Boeing airplane” which is the most possible search term?

By following some simple SEO tips, you can promote your site well.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Strategies

Nancy asks…

Which of the following marketing messages are consumers most likely to trust?

A TV commercial
An article about the company in a city newspaper
An Internet advertisement
A phone conversation with an employee of the company

Which of the following can help you evaluate the performance of your ads and other marketing strategies?

Asking competitors what they think of your advertising strategy
Collecting secondary data about your target market
Asking customers how they found out about your company or product
Sending out a press release multiple times

barry0912 answers:

Theres no better trust than 1 to 1. But, your question depends on the power of the advert. Plus, phone conversations are next best thing to 1 to 1, but only if they know you are calling. We all expect a sales call dont we, and we all hate em. To evaluate performance of ads? Ask the people who bothered to react why they bothered? Ask as many people as you can what they think of you ads and put the info together to get an idea.

Robert asks…

Describe several B2B technologies and applications?

Scenario:

Your brother owns a gourmet food company named Grandma’s Treats, and he is faced with an interesting decision. He inherited your grandmother’s recipe box and adapted the recipes to accommodate his wife’s diabetes. You, your friends, and relatives couldn’t tell that his creations were low sugar, and word of his delicious baked goods spread throughout the community. Last year, he left his full-time job to produce and sell his creations to the public, caterers, and restaurants. Recently, one of his restaurant chain clients approached him to supply all of their locations. They also suggested that he could attract more customers and operate his business more effectively if he creates a website, advertises, and sells his “treats” on the World Wide Web. You have more business experience than your brother does, so you’ve offered to help him investigate this opportunity. Starting an e-business, or expanding a current business into the Internet, involves as much planning and risk
as starting or expanding a traditional business. Some of the things that you have to consider include:

The cost of the technology.
The design of the website.
The marketing strategies you will use.
The choices of what to sell and how to sell it over the Internet.
The advantages of online communication with customers and suppliers.
The risks of doing business on the Internet.
You start exploring alternatives and seek the advice of experienced e-business professionals. There is a lot to learn, and you have heard many stories about people who have started e-businesses (or traditional businesses) and end up failing because they did not have or follow a solid plan.
You will strive to understand some of the basic principles of e-business in addition to understanding traditional business strategies so you can make wise choices as you bring your brother’s business into the Information Age. The varieties of tasks you will pursue are the development of an e-commerce plan, the exploration of different technologies that are used competitively in e-business, Internet marketing strategies, security, and ethics.

QUESTION:
Describe several B2B technologies and applications, as well as describe several applications or ways B2C can use technology that Grandma’s Treats could utilize as part of an e-business strategy. Search the Cybrary and provide at least two research citations that illustrate examples of companies that are utilizing e-business strategies (e.g., B2B, B2C), and discuss how Grandma’s Treats could benefit from employing similar strategies.
