Could some of you internet business owners tell me how you started your business, your marketing timeline? What did you do first and then after you got started. Press release? Media? SEO work?

Marketing is a continuous everyday work. You do everything simultaneously because there is no single way where you can get traffic so you need to make sure that every possible source of traffic is reached

My suggested timeline is:

BEFORE LAUNCHING THE WEBSITE

– Do an extensive keyword research analysis. – Start mapping out your link strategy. You need to start making a list of who should link to you and where you can request for links.

– Start thinking of how you can get the word out about your business. Do you plan on writing articles? Will you harness viral marketing? Some even go as far as giving incentives to those who recommend the site to their friends. – Start submitting requests for links. You will find that some will not link to you because you have 0 pagerank because your site is new. But start submitting to DMOZ and other directories and build your pagerank

– Do offline marketing. Whether you are planning to print brochures or do direct marketing, now is also the time to do them

AFTER YOU LAUNCH

– Try to do marketing at least 1 hour every day – whether asking for reciprocal links, submitting articles or submitting your site to directories

– Keep abreast of what’s happening with the search engines.

– Do email marketing or send a newsletter on a regular basis

Piano Store Marketing Strategy?

I have invested in a Piano Store recently and was wondering what would be the best means of communicating with my target customer i.e. younger parents with kids in the range 5-10.

Does anybody have any experience with creating a Marketing Plan or Strategy for a Piano Store?

If I was to tie-in with a Brand or product; what would be the best options?

Any suggestions please?

Although it predates the record album as an entertainment source, I guess your business has not entirely vanished yet, but it certainly has to be marketed differently than 20 years ago, I assume the manufacturers touch on traditional family values, as well as the decorative value of a traditional instrument.

One potential method to reach a small number of local prospects may be with paid Facebook advertisements, their demographic targeting is quite powerful, you can have ads only appear for married women between 25 and 40 who live in cities in close proximity to your location, there may be an “interest” like piano playing you may be able to target as well, they show you the potential reach of members a given ad setting would have, you could have such ads send people to a free Facebook business page.
While on the subject of internet resources you for sure need to have (and probably already do) a free Google Places page, they may provide a generic listing automatically, but you need to claim it and improve the content with more lengthy text, photos an potentially even video.

Sorry I m not more in touch with how kids are introduced to e piano these days, perhaps you can be a sponsor of some school events for the publicity and music evangelist opportunities, there are some cities (where the weather is friendly) that have old pianos in public places setup by some non profits.

With that in mind, Nintendo not only designed the Wii to let players compete against each other online, but it also added an entirely different aspect of the Internet to its newest system-browsing. Once the Wii has been hooked up to the Internet, either wirelessly or with an Ethernet cable, you can purchase Wii Internet for $5. The full version of the Internet Channel, which is a version of the Opera 9 Web browser, was launched in April of 2007 and it allows Wii owners to surf the Web in a unique fashion. The font is much larger than it is on a computer, so it is a lot easier to see from the comfort of your couch. You can also zoom in and out and scroll up, down and sideways using the Wii remote.
The Wii Internet Channel takes only a few seconds to launch, mostly because it stays connected to the Internet even when it is powered off. The software is saved on the 512 MB Wii internal flash memory. The software can also be transferred to an SD card after you download it, although temporary Internet files will remain on the internal memory. The Opera-based browser can support a host of Web 2.0 technologies and applications including:

The biggest gripe about the Wii Internet Channel is that the browser does not support Adobe Flash 8 or 9. Aside from the problems on the user’s side, Nintendo is also having a bit of trouble with the Wii Internet Channel. Apparently, hackers have found a loophole in the system that allows them to run their own code on the Wii console. The loophole is in the Flash Player embedded within the browser and could allow hackers to create video game emulators. That sounds like a great loophole, right? Not if you’re Nintendo. One of their potential moneymakers is the Virtual Console, which charges gamers between $5 and $10 for unlimited access to a retro title.

The Wii can use an Internet connection in more ways than just browsing. There are also free applications such as Wii’s News and Forecast Channels. The News Channel provides you with a view of the globe, which allows you to view news by region if you wish. The Forecast Channel also gives you a view of the globe, but this view also shows current weather systems around the world. If you zoom out far enough, you can see an accurate star map in the background. Since you register your Wii’s locations, it also knows what you’re looking for in the way of a local forecast.

Wii Accessories
The Nintendo Wii, like every other video game console, has some controller variations and other accessories available for serious gamers. Some of the accessories are very useful, while others merely add to the aesthetic value. Some examples of Wii accessories that fall into the “looks good, but not very useful” category are the plastic attachments for the Wii remote that make it look like a tennis racket, golf club or baseball bat. Nothing about the Wii or the game you’re playing changes — the attachments just transform your Wii remote into a prop. There are also boxing gloves that can house the Wii remote and Nunchuck. Just like the plastic attachments, these gloves don’t change anything about the game, except for the fact that you don’t actually have to hold onto the controllers.

Also, I suggest, at the very least, discussing this with an Internet marketing company to ensure, you’ve covered all of your bases.

Things that affect the decision on which Internet marketing services to choose, include:
Company size
Ability of company employees (and owner) to conduct their own marketing initiatives
Goals of company (financial and non-financial)
Products and services offered
Marketing budget
Age of the company
Location of the company
Company’s reputation

Start with this process:

Come up with 3 – 5 objectives that you would like your new marketing plan to achieve and when you would like to achieve them (3 months, 6 months, 1 year)
Are they prone to take several days to make a purchase?
Do they only shop during the weekdays?
Do they own computers in their homes?
Do they have access to the Internet while at work and at home?
Do they make purchases for themselves? For their family? For their friends?
Do some demographic research to discover who your customer base is and how (or if) they make purchases online
Do some research to see what your competitors are doing and where they are advertising their products and services. Do they offer special promotions? Do they partner with other companies to offer free items or services?

Sure they relate. Company’s use online Marketing to either get you to buy online or to buy over the phone. For instance if I was working for a Mortgage Company, I would advertise low rates. I would than post these rates with a link that includes the name of my mortgage company on common real estate websites. On my own company website I might include a free quote analysis but than post a 1-800 number. After you do the free online quote you would probably have questions. So you call the 1-800 number and talk to a mortgage officer. This potential sale became possible because I had posted a Marketing link on a website with the target demographic.

Internet marketing, also known as SEO, is typically considered the most effective form of marketing, online or offline. That is because having Internet marketing performed correctly and ethically on one’s Website allows the site to reach the most online visitors, across the most states and countries, across many search engines, for numerous keyword terms.

Other advantages include: being able to build brand recognition, a site can achieve first page keyword rankings across search engines like Google, MSN, Yahoo and others, eliminating costly PPC programs if a site is optimized naturally/organically in engines, and a site owner can see a fast ROI (return on investment).

DISADVANTAGES:
Internet marketing, while usually a monthly ongoing maintenance fee, may still seem too expensive for businesses working out of their homes or small business trying to find an affordable way to market their websites online. In addition, once an Internet marketing or SEO professional completely stops maintaining your Internet marketing program for you (and you do not considerd yourself to be a qualified professional), the rankings a site owner worked so hard to achieve in the search engines eventually drop/fall in the results (nobody working on keeping them there anymore). Getting high keyword rankings and keeping them takes ongoing commitment and time, so when nobody is there anymore to continuously work on the rankings, they will fall.
