Your Questions About Internet Marketing Strategies

Donna asks…

Marketing Timeline?

Could some of you internet business owners tell me how you started your business, your marketing timeline? What did you do first and then after you got started. Press release? Media? SEO work?

barry0912 answers:

Marketing is a continuous everyday work. You do everything simultaneously because there is no single way where you can get traffic so you need to make sure that every possible source of traffic is reached

My suggested timeline is:

BEFORE LAUNCHING THE WEBSITE

– Do an extensive keyword research analysis. SEOBook.com has a very good listing of free tools http://tools.seobook.com/ that you can use to research the keywords for your site including: keyword density, determining the keywords you want to target, who are your competitors for your targeted keywords.

– Start mapping out your link strategy. You need to start making a list of who should link to you and where you can request for links.

– Start thinking of how you can get the word out about your business. Do you plan on writing articles? Will you harness viral marketing? Be sure to equip your site with tools Get a Recommend this Site script from websites such as cgiscripts.com and similar directories of scripts. Some even go as far as giving incentives to those who recommend the site to their friends. If only 10 people go to your site, but these 10 people invite 10 more – that’s additional traffic that you get for FREE!

Recommend Site Scripts (various) http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Big Nose Bird Recommend this Site http://bignosebird.com/carchive/birdcast.shtml
CGI Resource Index http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Hostscripts http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Site_Recommendation/index.html

– Beta test your site and start inviting people (if applicable). If you are planning a social networking site for example, you can do a soft-launch for your site and invite people you know or friends of your friends to try out the site. This way you can iron out the kinks before you do your full blast marketing

UPON LAUNCHING

– Make sure your on-page factors (e.g. Title, metatags, keyword densities) are right on-target

– Issue a press release announcing the launch of your new site. Press releases are also a way to get inbound one-way links to your website. Here are some places where you can submit your press release for free

http://www.prleap.com/sign_up.html
http://i-newswire.com/
http://www.24-7pressrelease.com/

http://www.theopenpress.com/
http://www.przoom.com/
http://www.prweb.com
http://www.newswiretoday.com/
http://www.free-press-release.com/

– Submit your site to the major search engines. If you are going to read only one piece on search engine optimization, I suggest you read Brett Tabke of WebmasterWorld.com’s “Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day.” http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm

SEO for Google http://www.powerhomebiz.com/052006/google.htm

SEO for MSN http://www.powerhomebiz.com/052006/msn.htm
Tying It Together: SEO For The Big Three http://www.powerhomebiz.com/052006/seo.htm

– Start submitting requests for links. You will find that some will not link to you because you have 0 pagerank because your site is new. But start submitting to DMOZ and other directories and build your pagerank

– Do offline marketing. Whether you are planning to print brochures or do direct marketing, now is also the time to do them

AFTER YOU LAUNCH

– Try to do marketing at least 1 hour every day – whether asking for reciprocal links, submitting articles or submitting your site to directories

– Keep abreast of what’s happening with the search engines.

– Do email marketing or send a newsletter on a regular basis

Piano Store Marketing Strategy?

I have invested in a Piano Store recently and was wondering what would be the best means of communicating with my target customer i.e. younger parents with kids in the range 5-10.

Does anybody have any experience with creating a Marketing Plan or Strategy for a Piano Store?

If I was to tie-in with a Brand or product; what would be the best options?

Any suggestions please?

barry0912 answers:

Although it predates the record album as an entertainment source, I guess your business has not entirely vanished yet, but it certainly has to be marketed differently than 20 years ago, I assume the manufacturers touch on traditional family values, as well as the decorative value of a traditional instrument.

One potential method to reach a small number of local prospects may be with paid Facebook advertisements, their demographic targeting is quite powerful, you can have ads only appear for married women between 25 and 40 who live in cities in close proximity to your location, there may be an “interest” like piano playing you may be able to target as well, they show you the potential reach of members a given ad setting would have, you could have such ads send people to a free Facebook business page.
While on the subject of internet resources you for sure need to have (and probably already do) a free Google Places page, they may provide a generic listing automatically, but you need to claim it and improve the content with more lengthy text, photos an potentially even video.

Sorry I m not more in touch with how kids are introduced to e piano these days, perhaps you can be a sponsor of some school events for the publicity and music evangelist opportunities, there are some cities (where the weather is friendly) that have old pianos in public places setup by some non profits.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing

Nancy asks…

Do you think these Internet marketing tool reviews are accurate?

Do you think the Internet marketing tool and guide reviews on http://gradingwebmasters.com are accurate?

barry0912 answers:

It looks like they have a listing of programs that are good and you can use to compare.
However depending on how familiar you are with internet marketing, reviews like that might not be very useful. Any program that you purchase doesn’t provide you all the required marketing tools, because they specialize in a few aspects only.

Internet marketing tools can be broadly classified in two categories:
1. On Page & 2. Off Page factors.

On Page – meaning it is on your page – factors like: Keywords in your Domain name, Headline, Description, Content. You need to optimize this to get a high Google Page Rank.
If you are not on page 1 of google search it is harder to earn money.

Off page factors has mainly to do with the backlinks, links from other web sites. The higher the authority of the web site, the higher your page will be ranked.
Let’s say if your web sites has a link from you friend’s site that is a new site, you will not get much credit for this. But if you have a backlink from a site with a Page Rank of 8, you will be ranked higher.
So the key is not quantity but quality, it is something like if you hang around with popular people, you must be popular too. Google likes popular sites!
Some of the authority sites are Wikipedia, DMOZ and all .edu and .gov (education and government sites – however, they usually don’t allow links to commercial sites)

These are just a few things you need to know first. So don’t purchase any program until you are familiar with all the basics of internet marketing and are quite comfortable to do it.

To learn on how to build a website in your spare time and develop it into a profitable one, you can access the free training – Ebooks and videos – at http://www.internet-marketingtools.biz/

Once you learn the basics, then you are better equipped to choose the best program for you

Hope this helps

Unstoppable affiliate, is it any good?

Heard a lot about this one…it seems to provide lots of information about internet marketing (and not just link building) to newbies who are just starting out in affiliate marketing. Checked out a long thread at Warrior forums and almost all of them have very good things to say about this course/training…enough to pique my interest, so much so that i am willing to believe that i somehow lost $100 (always prepare for the worst scenario!) The thing is…though there have been lots of testimonials about how good this course is, it is all about how good Andrew Hansen is, how helpful his previous products have been and how informative this product is….my question is..has anyone been able to use the “steps” that he tells in the videos to build up a decent income (by decent i mean just $200 per month) by spending just the purchase price of the course i.e $100?

Hello

Unstoppable Affiliate Description

Unstoppable Affiliate is a money making system developed by Andrew Hansen and Josh Stanten that will allow you to easily set up passive affiliate income sites. This is done in a simple three step process and there is no limit to the number of new sites that you can set up – imagine how many different income streams you could have up and producing an income. Once you have your first site set up then it is just a simple matter of replicating it over and over.

Unstoppable Affiliate Reputation

People who have been using the training provided in the Unstoppable Affiliate money making system state that the information they have received is the highest quality but explained in an easy to understand format. Many people have seen their search engine page rankings increase very quickly after using these methods and others say that the amount of money they are making has made their purchase well worth the investment.

4 buyers of the program gave it an average grade of ‘B’

I am not associated with the product in any way

Hope that helps

Question for successful webmasters

Which is a better path to getting into internet marketing in your opinion; Buy a small, established website that has a monthly cash flow to learn how it all operates?, or, hit the forums and start from scratch and learn-as-you-go?

If you had to do it over, what path would you take?

 solar movie online

barry0912 answers:

With an established site, you have already some content (depending on quality though, you may have to scrap the whole content and replace it). The main benefit is the aging of the domain name, the number of links the site already got, and possibly, some established traffic

The problem with the established site is that you don’t really know what the previous owners did, and whether the site got penalties from the search engines. The worst thing you can do is buy an established site, and then find out you can’t monetize it because it has been kicked out of Google Adsense and other ad programs (once kicked out, you can’t reapply)

With a new site, you have the full control of what you do with it and you’ll be responsible for charting its growth. No penalties, nothing.

BUT — most new sites land in the sandbox so it takes time for it to be visible in the search engines (sometimes as long as 6 months to 1 year). That means you’ll work overtime to get traffic to the site, even spend more in terms of PPC for lack of organic traffic.

It has its pros and cons. But if there’s an opportunity to buy a clean, good site with a reasonable price, I’d go for that.

Jenny asks…

What Forums Can I go to to Find Free Lance Article Writers?

My website is about internet marketing. The number one question people ask me is about getting qualified writers (content writers, blog writers, technical writers, press release writers, etc.). They do not want to use an article writing service. They want to choose a writer and develop a long-term relationship without a middle man.

I decided to create a professional article writers directory to meet this need. I’m going to offer the following FREE services to the content writers:

A profile page on my high traffic internet marketing website, with unlimited space.
The profile page can include graphics and keywords so they will have an instant web presence.
I will advertise their profile webpage.
They will handle their own customers and set their own fees.

I’m looking for talented writers. They can be college students, professional writers, etc. They just need to demonstrate that they have writing skills. All levels of writers are needed.

For details look here: http://www.marketing-for-website-dominance.com/article-writers.html

I’m looking for the names of some good forums to post information about the directory.
