Your Questions About Internet Marketing Blog

Sandra asks…

What is the best and affordable way of Internet advertising?

We have a small company offering household budgeting and credit supervision and we would like to advertise on Internet. Does anybody know what is the best web site or company that provides services like that?

barry0912 answers:

Have you thought about pay per click programs? The two biggest, I think, are Yahoo! And Google

A few free resources – check out the sources box for links:

1) Create a blog pertaining to your field

2) Use Yahoo! Local & Yahoo! Groups – Be sure to read the TOS for each one!

3) Write articles pertaining to your field and/or expertise.

4) Advertise on Craiglist

Also, consider signing up for an affiliate program. These programs enable you to advertise on other’s sites (your affiliates) and once a sale is made to you, your affiliates & the program are paid a commission.

I listed a few handy sites & articles relating to marketing, promotion & advertising. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

Maria asks…

Where might I go on the internet to generate traffic to my blog site?

I co-admin a blog that updates everyday with new content. It’s been around for a while, and a sizable archive has built up. In the few years time, though, no one has actually visited the site. No surprise there, as there’s been no advertising for it. How could I start getting the word out?

barry0912 answers:

If your blog has a lot of posts, has been online for a while, and doesn’t have any visitors — whatsoever — you’ve probably done something very wrong. You don’t really need advertising (depending on your market), even the built-in ‘ping’ functions that most / all blogging platforms offer will do wonders to alert search engines to your blog.

When you’re done adding a new post, head over to one of the following sites:

http://autopinger.com
http://pingoat.com

and enter your site’s details, then hit the ‘submit’ button. At this point, search engines and third-party sites will be notified of changes to your blog.

However, be sure that search engines can view your site — too many times on self-hosted WordPress blogs people will accidentally set their privacy (on the dashboard, under settings I believe) too strict and tell search engine robots to ‘stay away’ from their blog. That could be a problem, too. Hard to tell without knowing your blogs URL.

Susan asks…

Where can I get objective advice on an Internet advertising model?

I’m trying to find a qualified resource to provide some generic answers concerning a new Internet advertising model. Basically this model will offer potential advertisers a low monthly volume of extremely high-quality leads. The questions I have relate to a) pricing and b) marketing this new service. So, where do I look for this advice?

barry0912 answers:

I find questions that require a “deeper” answer get better answers in the Q&A of LinkedIn. Their Q&A attracts a lot of professionals in the field of marketing, advertising and in this case, direct marketing.

My suggestion is to look at some examples of this type of business model. Franchising brokers and directories, for example, offer this type of business model where the advertisers (franchisers) post their info for a fee and then they pay based on the leads that they get

How does the Traffic Taxi online program work? Can someone provide me with details?

My friend’s blog is receiving a lot of traffic redirected from www.traffictaxi.net. And we are both flummoxed. What is Traffic Taxi, and how does the system work? I have seen several web marketing strategies, but this one has me bewildered.

barry0912 answers:

Stuff like this makes me laugh. Sure your getting traffic, but what kind of traffic? There is something in the internet advertising industry called a “return on investment”. That means that you must at least, get back in revenue what you spend on internet advertising. This includes outfits like the one you mentioned. If all your interested in is traffic and your not selling anything, you got what you wanted. Keep in mind that the traffic you are getting may not be the kind of visitors you want your site viewers to be. The only way for you to know this is to check where your traffic is coming from and perhaps offer some incentive for visitors to fill in a feedback clip for you. Most users take advantage of services like the one you are using for network coverage only and spend very little on the advertising. The more your website comes up on many different networks, the more important Google will think you are. And Google is god, make no mistake about it. If you advertise with Google, Yahoo and MSN you will drive an unbelievable amount of traffic to your website, but it will cost some big bucks. And you have to know the tricks. It’s not as easy as you think. That’s why there are companies that specialize in targeting internet traffic. The competition is relentless.

John asks…

College Degree, How do Majors work?

I’m a little confused in how this works. Say i was to get a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Business Management. Would my major be “Business Management” or does my Major depend on the electives i decide to take, for example if i took marketing electives would that make my major “Marketing“? The reason I ask this, is because i was looking on the internet at Resumes, and i found someone who had a Bachelors of Science in Information Technology, and a listed their major as “Computer Networks”. So i’m a little confused as how Majors are defined.

barry0912 answers:

Each institution can be different but typically your major is your main classes and then you can have a concentration in another, yet related, area. For instance my degree is a Master’s of Arts in Counseling. My major however was Counseling – Student Affairs because I concentrated in the Student Affairs part.

So your major will be Business Management and then depending on your electives you could concentrate in Marketing. You could also Minor in Marketing and that would require a few more classes than the regular electives.

It sounds like the person who wrote his resume was a little confused. He might have been trying to show his potential employers he has experience with computer networks and so included that. Or Computer Networks might have been a category within IT at that school.

Good luck with your studies!

Mary asks…

form of organization sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation help!?

In each case select what form of organization the business is likely to take – sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation.

Terry Hill and Bill Mayo each owned separate shoe manufacturing businesses. They have decided to combine their businesses. They expect that within the coming year they will need significant funds to expand their operations.

Alexis, Danny, and Robert recently graduated with marketing degrees. They have been friends since childhood. They have decided to start a consulting business focused on marketing sporting goods over the Internet.

barry0912 answers:

Alexis, Danny, and Robert are forming a partnership

Terry Hill and Bill Mayo owned separate shoe manufacturing businesses that means they were sole proprietorship of there own business until they combine their businesses into a corporation.

That’s my two cents
