Your Questions About Internet Marketing Forum

Donna asks…

I was wondering if I can ask a simple question to promote my business without being considered to be a SCAM?

To the two people who answered my first question. You can call me direct at 951-488-4185. It was a posed questions to see how many people really respond to internet marketing. Ask for Adam.

barry0912 answers:

Advertise from a customer perspective with a testimonial on how great the product is. Also, only questions are supposed to be posted in Yahoo! Answers, so search for someone asking for the kind of service that you provide. Otherwise, you could post on public forums of related interests.

Paul asks…

Is it better that one reads a book on the basics of Internet marketing?

Will this save them time and money?
Will it help them avoid making costly mistakes?
What are some books you suggest?

barry0912 answers:

Hi Christopher,

I would suggest that you go straight to the source- online!

I have been learning internet marketing for the last 5 months or so, and I looked into buying books, and I was disappointed with the selection- the problem is, the field is continuously evolving!

A book can teach you the very basics, but you’ll end up paying for information you can find for free.

My advice is to follow the experts, the gurus- Do a search for a specific topic you’re interested in, and you’ll get tons of specific blog entries and articles to help you out- the nice thing about internet marketing is how active and growing the community is.

If you already have a site, it’s great because you can experiment as you go and see what suits your needs best. If you’re starting from scratch, consider getting a free blog or other personal site that allows you to manage content personally. Otherwise you may feel lost, and the truth is, you don’t need a textbook- the key to the Internet is, it’s interactive. Textbooks can never compare.

Plus, you’ll often get more actual information per paragraph than most books will offer.

Depending on your goals, there are many ways to market online. You have to start with a site, and you should learn some basics on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) (I wrote a blog entry that offers some resources for beginners, I will add it below) – beyond that you have tons of options.

– Write original articles and submit to article sites (they provide good exposure!)
– Create videos and post them to YouTube and other video sites
– Write a blog and get it out there! (plenty of free sites)
– Make friends in the social network space (i.e. Sites like MySpace, Facebook and Twitter) that will help you spread the word
– Record a Podcast and publish to different podcasting sites
– Visit other sites, forums, etc and post comments where you think your product or service could benefit the person
– If you’re strictly looking for traffic, don’t be afraid of paid advertising or sponsorships

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Services

Michael asks…

what is internet marketing?

barry0912 answers:

In my openion Internet marketing (also known as online marketing) is exactly as it sounds, a way to market your products or services on the internet. Many make the mistake of believing that all it takes to be considered an internet marketer is to have a live website . That is far from the truth. There are millions of websites added online every day. What makes a website adequately compete in internet marketing goes far beyond registering a domain name and uploading content. It takes skillful strategy and an evolving knowledge of the internet marketing industry.

In order for your business to really thrive, there must be an internet marketing campaign in place. The internet is extremely competitive but it is worth it to find your place amongst the competition. The possibilities for your business when it is successful marketed on the internet are limitless. With this platform, your company is given the opportunity to reach a clientele far beyond the bounds of your business physical location. The internet allows for your business to be accessed around the world.

Lisa asks…

what is all in internet marketing?

barry0912 answers:

Internet marketing, also referred to as web marketing, online marketing, or eMarketing, is the marketing of products or services over the Internet.

The Internet has brought many unique benefits to marketing, one of which being lower costs for the distribution of information and media to a global audience. The interactive nature of Internet marketing, both in terms of providing instant response and eliciting responses, is a unique quality of the medium. Internet marketing is sometimes considered to have a broader scope because it refers to digital media such as the Internet, e-mail, and wireless media; however, Internet marketing also includes management of digital customer data and electronic customer relationship management (ECRM) systems.

Internet marketing ties together creative and technical aspects of the Internet, including design, development, advertising, and sales. Internet marketing does not simply entail building or promoting a website, nor does it mean placing a banner ad on another website. Effective Internet marketing requires a comprehensive strategy that synergizes a given company’s business model and sales goals with its website function and appearance, focusing on its target market through proper choice of advertising type, media, and design.

Internet marketing also refers to the placement of media along different stages of the customer engagement cycle through search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), banner ads on specific websites, e-mail marketing, and Web 2.0 strategies. In 2008 The New York Times working with comScore published an initial estimate to quantify the user data collected by large Internet-based companies. Counting four types of interactions with company websites in addition to the hits from advertisements served from advertising networks, the authors found the potential for collecting data upward of 2,500 times on average per user per month.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Degree

Linda asks…

Is a business degree necessary in starting a career in marketing?

Or would a degree in social sciences be ok?

barry0912 answers:

No, you do not need a business degree to start a career in marketing. You don’t need any degree at all. There are countless opportunities in marketing. Its a huge field. For example, a good friend of mine started doing internet marketing while he was studying economics. He eventually got his economics degree, but he didn’t need it. He found what he loved to do: internet marketing. If you want to get into a huge corporation in one of their entry level marketing jobs, then you’re better off with a degree. There are plenty of alternatives though. There are plenty of ways to make a living with a marketing career without any degree at all. For example, here is a possible path:

1. Get an entry level job as an “Administrative Assistant.” Make sure the job has at least some advertising/marketing duties (such as stamping envelopes to send out advertising post cards).
2. Get a year of experience at this job.
3. Revise your resume, focusing on the marketing skills you learned.
4. Apply to a new job as a “Marketing Assistant.”
5. Repeat this process every year or two. This is how you “climb the corporate ladder.”

You can build a career like this. Feel free to skip steps if you can. There is no set path. No degree is necessary for this, but a degree helps get you interviews. Eventually you could become the CEO of a multi-billion dollar marketing agency.

Good luck.

Donna asks…

law degree and then a career as a business professional?

I want to do a law degree but don’t want a law career such as one as a solicitor or barrister. I would like to become a business professional instead but don’t know what area I could go into – any ideas?

barry0912 answers:

Please be aware of what you are proposing on getting yourself into. Please do more research first.

Reminder: We are in a World-wide Recession. Consider career paths that have available jobs.<<<< Jobs in the field of Law are drying up fast!! This is just not a good field to invest time and/or money into. This is a SHRINKING, crumbling, and dying vocational field. Many reasons. Many people today (mistakenly) think they can do their own legal work, thanks to the Internet. Also, we simply already have way too many Legal Professionals – we have an absolute glut!! (“Legal Professionals” includes, but is not limited to: Attorneys/Lawyers, Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Bailiffs, Court Reporters, etc, etc)

Employers (usually law firms) in the field of Law today want employees with degrees from traditional colleges/universities. Those “certificates” you see advertised aren’t worth the paper they are printed on – they are generally scams. (I found this out the hard way.)

Cost of law school to be lawyer, approx $150,000+.
Be prepared to take on a lot of debt.

Even if you finish law school, you won’t be able to find a job when you are done. Since this vocational field is shrinking, many new attorneys/lawyers are, themselves, having to work “down” as Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Bailiffs, Court Reporters, etc, etc, to simply try to keep some of their bills paid <that the job market/economy is just saturated with way too many Legal Professionals. Instead the schools will feed you a fairytale and will lie to you. The root of the problem is we have too many law schools. We are in a recession, and the schools are fighting for their own survival – they will tell students anything to get to the students’ money. (Which is why they won’t tell you the truth about the job market for the field of Law.) And these schools continue to recruit and churn out even more graduates………….

If you don’t believe me, then just do a search here on Yahoo Answers to see what other posters are saying about the current status of the field of Law. Call some local law firms – ask to speak to the Manager of Human Resources – ask them if they are hiring; ask them what they think about job availability in the field of Law………………

In the book “So You Want to be a Lawyer?” by Marianne Calabrese and Susanne Calabrese (ISBN 0-88391-136-1): “The United States has more lawyers than any other country in the world. About 38,000 students graduate >each year>>Healthcare or Information Technology! I spoke to a career counselor from Jobs and Family Services, and HE told me that these areas are where the jobs are, and future job availability! And scholarships!

Good luck.

Hey There-
I was just doing a search online for different jobs in a few different cities. Mary asks…

How do I start a business if I can’t count on the job market to provide a living for me and my family?

I have some good business ideas, but my credit is shot, because my child had heart surgy and we had to file for bankruptcy. I can’t get a loan and trying to get a job because my credit is bad no one will hire me and I am also seven months along. I need to find some way of making a living and my only option is to be in business for myself. How do I start a bussiness with very little capital to no capital. I can’t rely on my husband. He is skilled, but has no people skills. Our unemployment is running out and I don’t have much time to think of options on my own. How can I make a business work?

barry0912 answers:

In response to your question . . .

I certainly understand your predictament. I will tell you where the real money is over the Internet. However, this will be a slow process to learn but a low investment. It takes passion, dedication, and it is definately real. Just read the following:

Before you do anything, you need to learn Internet marketing. I highly suggest that you don’t invest in anything just yet. You need to research the Internet by joining work at home forums–its free! Do a search on the Internet and look up Work at Home Forum, Home Business Forum, Internet Marketing Forum and Affiliate Program Forum. Also look up the keyword SCAM on the Internet and read the stories. Understand the Internet has a wealth of information so research Internet Marketing. The Internet is a universal marketplace for buying and selling products/services.
In addition, read more about Yahoo!, MSN, Google and eBay’s buying/selling/affiliate programs.

The number one income opportunity isn’t data entry, typing, writing ads, Internet jobs, get-rich-quick schemes, etc. These are where most scams occur–people are being misled. So keep away from them Any website filled with money hype such as Make $100s … $1000s and $10000 or more per day/week/month is full of crap–stay away. And pursue any marketing opportunities right now, unless you are an experienced marketer. Advertising is tricky and has to be learn appropriately. If you take your time and research you will discover one absolute great opportunity–Affiliate Programs. But you need to learn Internet marketing. Don’t be foolish and try to learn this on your own. Its leads to costly mistakes and it take too much of your time. This is where most people failed, get discourage because they prefer the get-rich-quick scheme to making money.

I suggest you start by researching a particular site. There will be a free newsletter membership for you to join. You need to sign up to it and download the free ebooks on Internet marketing. This will give you more of an idea what Internet marketing is about, and you can decide if this is really for you. If you really want to learn a system, which is highly suggested in any endeavor, you can pay for the actual course. The price is low and is a one time fee but you will learn, practice, receive assignments and work with 14 money-making websites.

If you would like to know more, contact me at pbsumpter@yahoo.com

PS – I am not trying to sell you anything, just point you and others in the right direction, so that people don’t get scammed and misled by all the hype. If you respond to me, be sure to refer to Internet marketing.

Take Care and Good Luck!
