Your Questions About Internet Marketing

Chris asks…

How is the best way to get Internet exposure for a group of restaurants to be seen and advertised online?

Need internet marketing campaign ideas or suggestions for ways to advertise or gain exposure to surrounding communities that restaurants are in or near.

How can these restaurants be marketed online to people inexpensively but effectively?

barry0912 answers:

Personally, I am convinced that any good Restaurant does not need to advertise (at least not very much) .. In my (admittedly limited experience) the best way to find a good Restaurant is to receive a personal recommendation and then go visit it ..

From the outside you can determine the following :-
What type of area is it in ? (opposite the nightly drunken pub fights ?)
How popular is it ? (compered to the one next door) – the good ones are soon packed out by ‘word of mouth’ ,.. The bad ones always advertise a lot and are always half empty … (until everyone in the local area has been there once .. And then they go bust)
What sort of ‘clientele’ is it appealing to ? (loud pop-music & lap-dancing ?)
What’s the menu choices ? (& prices ?)

Having made the decision to go in, it’s really then all down to the quality of food …

Having said that, I have occasionally used Business Directors to look up ‘take-aways’ on the web ..

Paul asks…

What do Internet marketers do about shipping?

When starting my own Internet marketing business online, what do I do in order to ship the products? Do I have to ship them out myself? What do Internet marketers do about shipping products to customers?

Thank you!

barry0912 answers:

I you are selling your own physical products online, then you organise shipping. If you are selling through dropshipping then you just include shipping in you markup price and your drop ship supplier organises shipping.

However, the majority of internet marketers operate through “affiliate marketing”. Where you promote somebody else’s products through an affiliate link and receive a commission per sale. The owner of the product organises everything. Affiliate sites include, Amazon.com (small commission), Clickbank.com (up to 75% commission, no shipping as all products can be downloaded). Paydotcom.com (same as Clickbank.com), JVZoo.com (up to 100% commission on front end products i.e. The vendor makes their profit on an upsell)

Hope this helps

William asks…

What can you recommend to make an internet cafe work?

I want to start an internet cafe near a university. What can you suggest to make the business work?

barry0912 answers:

Firstly, if you have no experience in the internet cafe business, I’d advise that you work in one for the next six months or so doing everything from busing tables and washing dishes to waiting tables and cooking if they’ll allow you back there and if you have the skills. This will give you some of the work experience that you’ll need to understand and run an internet cafe profitably.

If this is your first business venture, I would strongly recommend that you talk to a business counselor before you do anything especially spend money. I’d call the local office of SCORE (go to http://www.score.org and input your zip code to find the chapter nearest you), the advice is FREE. Ask for someone who has a background in restaurants and internet cafes and they’ll try their best to match you with the right counselor.

The counselor at SCORE will most likely advise you to write a business plan which is very good advice because it will force you to dig out all of the start up details and the costs of starting an internet cafe and force you to also understand all of the aspects of this business including the customers you’ll concentrate on (your market ) and how you’ll get them to find out and want to come to your fabulous internet cafe.

The location is important but doesn’t make it successful. To prove that all you have to do is walk down a street in your town where there are several nice restaurants all in a row and you’ll find one or two that are empty while the others are very busy. It has to do with menu, ambiance, and your reputation at the beginning and over time.

You also have to have food handling licenses, the right zoning, the right city and county licenses and permits and you have to be skilled at negotiating with your landlord about who’ll stand the cost of the build-out or the changes to the premises to make it ready for your look and feel.

You also have to worry about the normal business planning and management issues related to starting up any business.
Take a look and read some of the articles at:

especially the ones about a business plan and starting a business. Also try their Blog and their Bulletin Board.
Hope this helped.

Donna asks…

How can I market my web development company?

I work for a 13 man web development company in the Midwest. I was recently moved into marketing under an inept manager. She withholds information and is not a team player. I love the company and the rest of the people I work with and would like to be an asset to the company. I don’t have a lot of experience in marketing… What can I do to drum up business?

Right now I pretty much just attend Chamber of commerce functions and try to utilize my personal network.

barry0912 answers:

There’s a whole bunch of methods you can use. To utilize your network is a good idea. You could create a linkedin.com profile for example, add people there, create on Linkedin a profile of your company. The same thing with Facebook. Also a company corporate blog is a nice idea.

If you need to execute an Internet marketing (SEO) campaign, my company could help you with it – http://www.webtexsolutions.com/

Your Questions About Internet Marketing News

John asks…

Would you join a revolution to put an end to the imbalance of wealth?

The wealthy have always made up lies as to why they deserve more, fact is that they dont. They say “free market” dictates it all, so lets tell them what we are willing to pay and see how they like it. Actors paid 20mil for one movie, 15 mil per year to read the news, 2.2 mil for one actor for one episode of frasier, 1 million a week for some guy to kick balls? The world has gone mad. Would you join a worldwide revolution where every person on the planet was joined through the internet to boycott businesses until they stopped paying CEOs 20ml a year and all the other parasites? boycott movies at random until they send actors reality cheques instead of bigger pay cheques? Its your world why shouldnt you have your FAIR share and tell the parasites where to stick it? This will be starting soon, are you in?
Nice to see the idiots are out in force. Any of you SFB’s wants to put their money where their mouth is then send me and email with your address.
Arrested by CEOs? Does your brain ever work in conjunction with your mouth?
Communism? you people are thick, nothing to do with communism
How about if I make my invention so expensive that no one on the planet can afford it so you all end up living in the streets? would that be OK because thats what free enterpise is all about? Its OK if it doesnt affect you. Millions are starving and Fwits are whining about how fair it is for someone to make millions a week because they are so valuable. YOU people are morons and a discrace to humanity.

barry0912 answers:

How the hell u gonna pull that off,
if ur joined thru the internet n how u gonna boycott all that, the CEO’s will just have u all arrested n you’d be squashed in a day. Just live with it like all the rest of us hard working citizens. Life can be unfair but its life.

Im sure if someone paid u 20 mil to not start a revolution, you’d take it. LOL

Lizzie asks…

Are you sick and tired of the Health Food (anti-meat/soda) Food Nazis?

First the health Nazis attacked tobacco, after getting traction on that issue they began attacking fast food joints, then they turned their sights onto soda… the health food zealots won’t be satisfied until red meat is outlawed! I don’t know about you but I’m very angry and Hades will freeze over before I sit down to a supper of raw carrots and celery washed down with a disgusting glass of grapefruit juice.

Fast food is just that… just something fast and convenient… soda is just a snack drink. I wouldn’t go to a McDonalds or a BurgerKing for a salad or a piece of fruit and if that’s all they served or even a majority of their menu I would go else where. Only a fool would attempt to eat fast food three times a day/seven days a week. But it is convenient when your either in a hurry or on the run.

Are you as angry as I am? Are you sick and tired of the health food Nazis attempting to dictate what you can eat and drink?

How much would you care to wager the HMO’s are the ones ultimately behind the health food propaganda?

Control tobacco, food ads to beat cancer – panel By Maggie Fox, Health and Science Editor
Thu Aug 16, 12:14 AM ET
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070816/hl_nm/cancer_usa_dc;_ylt=Ap3_o.sabt8ApNmBJxcrP469j7AB

A new presidential report on cancer takes on not only tobacco companies but the food industry while calling on the federal government to “cease being a purveyor of unhealthy foods” and switch to policies that encourage Americans to eat vegetables and exercise.

The report, issued on Thursday, also urged changes in public and private insurance policies to encourage doctors to spend more time counseling patients on how to stay healthy by eating right, exercising and avoiding tobacco.

“Ineffective policies, in conjunction with limited regulation of sales and marketing in the food and beverage industry, have spawned a culture that struggles to make healthy choices — a culture in dire need of change,” said the report, available on the Internet at http://pcp.cancer.gov.

“Moreover, the panel was troubled to find that the efforts of those committed to an America less burdened by cancer often are compromised by federal, state, and local policies that have decreased the availability and affordability of healthy foods, limited physical education in schools, and created a built environment that discourages physical activity,” it said.

Several reports have shown that a third of all cancers are caused by tobacco use, and another one-third by obesity and inactivity.

“This country must not ignore its moral obligation to protect the health of all Americans. We can and must empower individuals to make healthy choices through appropriate policy and legislation, and the panel urges you to use the power of your office toward this life-saving goal,” the President’s Cancer Panel, chaired by Howard University’s Dr. LaSalle Leffall, wrote in a letter to Bush.
