Sandra asks…

can a pc work without internet explorer and just use mozilla firefox?

barry0912 answers:

My PC doesn’t have Internet Explorer, or Windows Explorer, and I’ll bet it’s better than your PC 😉

It looks like just about everyone else on here is telling lies – I didn’t remove Internet Explorer, I never had it. My PC works without Internet Explorer – but I don’t JUST use Mozilla Firefox. I do use it a lot, and love that I can have ‘profiles’ set up.

I use Mozilla Firefox, I use Opera, I use Epiphany (lightweight gecko browser, same engine firefox but lighter browser) and Midori (webkit, like Safari) – and also I like Seamonkey, which is an ‘internet suite’ unlike browsers – it includes many features, like an Internet browser, email & newsgroup client, HTML editor, IRC chat and web development tools

Your question sounds a little like people who think that there is either Mac, which must only run Mac OSX, or PC which (in the Evangelist Microsoft campaign, must only run Microsoft).

Microsoft also launched campaigns to brainwash people, they pay many people to post on forums, and sites like Answers, in order to control thinking. The only reason they believe that Vista failed is that the people talked it down in forums.

Windows 7 is amazingly more successful – but in the words of an ex-Microsoft Evangelist (one of the guys who ran the campaign) “lets be real, Windows 7 is just Vista with a polished UI tweaks and *much* better marketing.”

Microsoft published on their own site, a complaint (relating to Internet Explorer not working with many internet sites because (in their words) the developers couldn’t take a few minutes to set up their site properley. Those sites included Windows Live, MSN sites, and included no less than 8 Microsoft hosted sites!!! Amazing!!! Yet news like this generally gets hidden, people generally get evangelistic about whatever Operating System they’re running (even though they might have many problems and hate it… Better the devil you know?)

If you have a PC and want to get away from the crap, then find something better, something free, or just an alternative for internet.

I use XP, it runs games on my system and has ACDSee Pro2, and several games. I disabled internet, and removed all of the security junk software also… So it now runs well.

When I am doing anything else (other than downloading 300 5MP pictures and adjusting them from my camera – and playing games) I boot to another Operating System.

Right now, I’m trying out Crunchbang Linux – wow, it’s amazingly fast after XP, but it’s a little basic. I prefer ubuntu for everything else. It’s great for net, it’s great for Office (free) it’s great for photo editing, making DVD’s, editing music, creating CD’s, well – whatever you wanna do, it’s great.

Sure, use Mozilla and avoid Internet Explorer. Better still, avoid Microsoft and their unfair business practices altogether. I’m amazed that any Christian can justify working to support such a Corporation!!! Show signs of charity for a few African Schools – when they could really give Free PC’s with really free software – and Ubuntu is better for kids than Windows ever could be!

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Strategies

Donald asks…

what is digital marketing strategy?

barry0912 answers:

Digital marketing is marketing that makes use of electronic devices such as computers, tablets, smartphones, cellphones, digital billboards, and game consoles to engage with consumers and other business partners. Internet Marketing is a major component of digital marketing.

Digital marketing is a marketing process which leads to the development of any organization or brand by using a variety of digital channels such as email, social networks etc.
Digital Marketing can be defined as promoting of brands or products and services using all forms of digital advertising. Digital marketing uses Television, Radio, Internet, mobile and any form of digital media to reach customers in a timely, relevant, personal and cost-effective manner.
Apart from using many of the techniques and practices contained within the category of Internet Marketing, digital marketing extends beyond this by including other channels that do not require the use of the Internet. Due to non-dependence on the Internet, the field of digital marketing includes a whole lot of elements such as mobile phones or cell phones, display / banner ads, sms /mms, digital outdoor, and many more.

Thomas asks…

Has anyone been able to find any internet marketing or sales techniques/strategies that have worked for them?

If so, please explain. Thank You in Advance!

barry0912 answers:

It depends highly on what you are trying to market. The best answer is to hire a professional. We have dedicated our life to marketing and how it works.

Why do you not grow your own food, make your own clothes, build your own car, or perform your own surgery? Because it is easier and cheaper in the long run to trust a professional to do it for you.

Same thing with marketing. You’ll put out a little cash now and reap big rewards later.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Services

Sandy asks…

Different internet service?

I have AT&T DSL internet service. I live in a household of three. Two with laptops, and me with my desktop and PS3. I am sick of this internet service!!! Every time even one person starts surfing the web, my computer starts running so slow!!! The internet starts going in and out of service at the most random times. And I usually have to wait until late night in the AM when everyone else is sleeping just to get a HALF decent connection. Whenever I want to play my PS3 I can’t because of the others are on their devices and it causes so much lag to the point where I eventually get signed out of the network and I can’t even connect back to the servers. I would LOVE to switch back to Comcast (even though the customer support sucks! it would definitely be worth it over my current service provider) but I live in an apartment building that is under contract with DirectTV (which also sucks) so there is no other possible way to get Comcast because we would need to have a cable connection by Comcast even if we didn’t want cable tv itself. So pretty much we can only get Comcast unless we move, which is out of the question! So are there any other internet service providers that do not need a cable connection that are faster and more reliable than AT&T??? Or can anyone please tell me what I can do to make my internet connection faster on my PS3 at least? Thanks in advance guys!
Also, my desktop and PS3 are on wired connections. And the two laptops are obviously wireless. See the problem here? lol

barry0912 answers:

DSL is usually the cheapest broadband option, albeit the slowest.

DSL – DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is a form of broadband Internet that is transmitted over standard twisted pair copper telephone lines. DSL speeds range from 256 Kbps to 6 Mbps depending on distance from the telephone company and plan that you purchase. Http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Subscriber_Line

Standard DSL is rapidly being replaced by newer, faster technologies. DOCSIS 3.0 cable Internet has speeds up to a blazing 305 Mbps in certain areas. Fiber optic ADSL2+ and VDSL products are offered in excess of 100 Mbps.

Google and Time Warner even have 1 Gbps fiber being installed, that’s a whopping 1000 Mbps. Http://isp1.us/blog/time-warner-brings-1-gbps-fiber-links-to-new-york/

As far as wireless service go, There are some fast 4 G wireless services available. However you’ll not want wireless for your application for two reasons.

1.) Fair Usage Limits.

Most Internet providers impose limits on the amount of data you can download before they charge you overage fees or throttle your Internet speed to a crawl.

“Unlimited Internet” is a term often used to market Internet services.

Very seldom does it actually mean unlimited. What the providers do is add what is known as a “Fair Usage Policy” you’ll find it in the small print of the contracts. The effect is that you are either throttled to a crawl or charged extra for monthly bandwidth that exceeds the providers predetermined limit.

The worst are the cellular mobile broadband providers with under 5 GB per month, Satellite Internet is a close second with some providers throttling after 200 MB per day. Most cable and DSL providers allow 100-250 GB per month.

That being said, currently cable providers have the most liberal limits. However if you consistently download in excess of 250 GB per month you risk being canceled. Read this post for more info. Http://isp1.us/blog/comcast-usage-caps-ruining-families/

At&t DSL caps at 150 GB per month and I believe Comcast is 250 GB

2.) Latency (Ping Time)

Online gaming lag is usually caused by two things, latency and upload speed.

You can check these on a speed testing site. Http://speedtest.net

Latency is the delay (ping time) in milliseconds that it takes the signal to travel to the server and back. The lower the number the better, but you’ll definitely want a ping time of under 150 ms or you’ll have major problems.

Upload speed also plays a factor in updating your player position data to the gaming server. Slow upload speeds can cause your online game to lag. The faster the better, but at least 0.5 Mbps would be my minimum recommendation.

Another factor that comes into play is if you are using a wired (Ethernet) or wireless connection to your PC or gaming console.

Unfortunately any network without cables will have latency issues. This includes wireless mobile broadband and satellite systems, but also can be caused by wireless router connections.

By nature, interference in wireless systems causes problems with smooth, consistent speeds.

A lot will depend on what Internet providers are available in your specific area and what levels of service they offer in that location.

To compare your local competitors, go to a ISP comparison site that lets you input your address, http://isp1.us/find/ and compare the pricing and terms of the offers that are available in your area.

The physical address is needed because some services, particularly DSL, are very distance sensitive. For example you might be able to get a specific level of service while your next door neighbor can’t.

You’ll want to pick the fastest plan that fits your budget. In some areas this can be 300 Mbps+. But these high end broadband plans are expensive. You may find that something in the 5 to 50 Mbps range might satisfy your needs at a much lower cost.

Good Luck…

Your Questions About Internet Marketing News

Ruth asks…

What is the best way to market/advertise a bright pink headband and why?

This is for a school Economics project.
I need to know which method of advertising would be better to advertise a BRIGHT PINK HEADBAND.

EXAMPLES:
-Billboards
-Radio
Television
Print Media (Newspapers,Magazines etc)
-Word of mouth
internet
-Cellphone
-Pamphlets
-Sponsership

I also need the cost if possible (In Rands ie South African currency)

Thanks =)

barry0912 answers:

I can’t give you cost, but I can give you ideas..

Eliminate Billboards, Radio, Cellphone, and Pamphlets immediately. (They are not going to have purchase impact.)

Now, we need to decide a “pitch”, since you’re selling something “generic”, I’d tie it to a “cause”.

Wear a BRIGHT PINK HEADBAND TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR….. NOVEMBER IS PINK HEADBAND MONTH FOR… Etc…

That would probably lead me down the path of Sponsorship, getting a organization involved in my cause to promote the wearing of the Pink Headbands. (They already have an email list, a website, and the attention of news outlets)

Which could then easily move into free coverage by Print media, Television, Radio, Word of Mouth, etc…

Cost of Advertising?? With a great sponsor, and a CAUSE??

Almost nothing.

Mary asks…

What is a good way to advertise your business in the south east?

I’m starting a property management company in Chattanooga, TN and I dont think news papers alone will cut it.

barry0912 answers:

Local or geographically targeted search engine marketing and advertising is a good way to go. This puts you right in front of people looking for your services. A little keyword research shows there are 8 searches per day for “chattanooga property management”. Not sure exactly what individual services you are providing (outside or inside) or other areas you serve but you would have to find out what kind of search volume there is for them in your area.

You can reach the people searching for your services locally through localized web marketing programs such as local search engine optimization and local pay per click marketing. The most important thing is that your website is well optimized for the areas you serve. Http://www.localrise.com is a good starting point to learn more about these types of local internet marketing programs.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Degree

David asks…

I would like to study Internet Marketing and Web design?

I would like to do a homestudy course of some sort that offers support and training in this area. I am in Australia don’t know if that matters. Can anyone help?

barry0912 answers:

If I were you, I would call up the local schools in your area (universities etc) and see if they offer marketing courses online. Many schools are going this way and you can often get a degree when you are done.

Secondly you can try schools like the University of Phoenix which puts a ton of courses online for people to study abroad. There are plenty of these “online schools” out there now and many of them do Internet marketing and web design since that course lends itself to the Internet pretty easily.

Just check their references, make sure they are legit, that they have a physical address and give them a call. See how they handle your call, are they professional? See if anyone else has had success with them. Do your research.

Good luck on the marketing course search!

Steven asks…

Internet SEO Marketing Question?

What could be expected as a “normal paid conversion percentage” using clickbank to sell a training program to make money online in the cellular phone industry, purchaser buys training program online for S 49.50 that teaches them how to market a free website that they are given with the training Program.

Out of every 100 visitors from Quality online traffic, how many would convert with a solid offer that is backed wirh a 60 day money-back guarantee – that states if they do not earn at least $1000.00 in the first 60 days – by simply applying what they are taught in the training program they will receive a refund for training program.

How much of a difference would it make regarding “paid conversion percentage” if the offer was $19.95 verses $ 49.50?

barry0912 answers:

There isn’t any set percentage as such. It completely and completely depends on your content, copywriting, landing page, graphics, page rank and a list of other things. But lets say you get almost everything right to some degree, i am talking about from my experience, i get about minimum 1-4 % conversion percentage, out of 100 visitors.

Now let me clarify, getting 100 visitors is no parameter for your internet SEO marketing question. Im talking about 100 “ready to buy” visitors, who have done their research and are completely motivated to find the solution rightaway. As a rule i dont draw people looking just for information. I talk straight to the point and i write articles in and around the buying part of it.

Well, Internet SEO Marketing techniques also depend on the selection of your product you want to promote, the niche, existing competition and the quality of their respective landing pages. So in a way, there is no yardstick, its all upto your SEO and content writing skills.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing News

John asks…

Do you live in one of the areas being hit hard by theives stealing plants?

I do. It has been all over the news here. Theives are jacking flower beds like crazy in my area. And I woke up this morning to find all of my rose bushes gone. Plants? I would have never thought that they’d be targeted. What about y’all?

barry0912 answers:

No, fortunately I do not. I suspect your stolen rose bushes will show up at a flea market or other seller’s venue. Personally, I’d be playing detective and when I’ve found my plants, I’d call the police immediately. Of course, the thieves may be selling them on one of the internet sites, too.

Sorry you suffered such a loss. I’d be steaming mad!

Where do you live? Where is this happening?

James asks…

What is the best book to purchase for a beginner to learn how to purchase stocks?

I would like to buy stocks over the internet, but I have no clue on what stocks to buy or how to do it.

barry0912 answers:

I am assuming that you are using “limited funds” to start “investing over the internet”…..but I am VERY CONCERNED with the “I have no clue on what stocks to buy..or how to do it”. Honestly, you are “exactly” the type of person who should NOT be trading/investing on your own…as another answer before me said “find a reputable professional”…it doesn’t matter what company he/she is with…their skill/knowledge and ethics are what matter most!!!

However…to answer your question…there are a HUGE number of books to “purchase”…..but if you’re posting on here…and you want to trade over the internet…USE THE INTERNET for what it was invented for…sharing knowledge!

BOOKS don’t “interact” with you…can’t let you “test drive” sample portfolios…backtest potential portfolios…learn about many different strategies/products, etc …..and cost you nothing more than you are already using for internet access.

Sooooo……Here is a “sample” of what I recently shared with a similar Yahoo Answers member……

This will be a fairly extensive listing of where to go to learn about stocks, bonds, personal finance, economic issues(stock related), etc etc etc……only because you sound like you earnestly want to know.

For STOCK/Mutual Fund/Options/Finance-related information:

**www.kiplingers.com (more “personal finance” than stocks…but that’s critical in life too…kiplinger newsletter and/or Kiplinger Personal Finance magazine!)
**www.fool.com (classes to sign up for, free, etc)
**www.seekingalpha.com (better for the “technical analysis” crowd)
**www.whispernumbers.com (professional and non-pro opinions…group think?…play it to your advantage?)
**www.yahoo.com (finance section…good site (that’s free) for tracking (delayed) your stock portfolio)
**www.msnbc.com (current “in-the-news” stuff)
**www.morningstar.com (mostly for funds…stocks too)
**www.dismalscientist.com (more MACRO-economic…for those who want to know “why, how…” things happen)
**www.888options.com (Great Options site, free options DVD and classes!)
**www.optionsmonster.com (Options site)
**www.CBOE.com (THE Options exchange, “Learning Center”/”Options Institute”=free classes!)
**www.lightbulbpress.com (easy to understand, quick read, booklets etc.)
**www.street.com (Cramer’s name to fame! “trader, not investor” related advice mostly!)
**www.horsesmouth.com (a stock/stock market barometer!)
**www.bankrate.com (good resource on rates, and much more!)

And…sooooo many more… I’ll save “financial Calculator” websites (for everything you can imagine, and many that you can’t) for another time!!! Oh, these are “off the top of my head”…..there are many others that I’ve gone “blank” on…and may add later, after I check my work computer (since I’ve saved the shortcuts on several, I don’t remember the actual addresses!…silly me!!!)

Study hard…don’t lose your money “guessing”…study/read first…then take a “gamble?” (pun intended)…and/or find an above average/ethical professional to do the work for you.

***Oh, yeah….all of the above information should be FREE for all/overwhelming majority of the information…AND “Most traders/investors” don’t know about them. Also, NEVER buy those newsletters, etc you’ll get “pitched”…use these sites…and think for yourself…or hire a “personal” advisor who knows you and what your goals, needs, etc are.
