Your Questions About Internet Marketing Jobs

Paul asks…

Will marketing still be a lucrative field in the future?

I am planning on going into the field of marketing. I would like to know how going into marketing in this economy will pan out along with how the future of marketing looks as of now.

barry0912 answers:

Marketing jobs are tough to get. Typically you have to get lucky or have experience to land a good job. 2nd option is to start with a company at the bottom and try to work our way up. There are two types of marketing jobs either you work on the design side of things or the sales side of it. If you hate sales you better have good knowledge of computer/graphic design as it will get you much farther. If you like the sales side then you will probably score a job pretty easy. Alot of companies tie marketing into more hands on sales experience whether it be trade shows or presentations etc.. To answer your question great field, and will never go away. However, it is evolving much more into the internet than expected. I recommend solid background on design and other internet applicaitons.

Nancy asks…

What is a fun or interesting part time job that compliments a full time career?

My day job is stressful and intense. Its in an office environment. I’m looking for something “different” with flexible hours, fun, won’t burn me out and has NO inventory. Serving and bartending are obvious. I’m looking for something not so obvious. FYI I live in Toronto Canada.

barry0912 answers:

Bartending=very late hours in some cases, although private clubs are great. I was where you are a couple of years ago. Because I like the computer, internet marketing was the viable low cost answer for me.
I have some sites that generate passive income for me allowing my weekends to still be free!

What jobs can I get with a Bachelor’s in Entrepreneurship/Small Business Management degree?

I have been out of college for about two years now and have worked a lot of random jobs like receptionist, gym member specialist, personal home cook, etc… -the kinds of jobs I don’t need a degree for. I graduated with a degree that is probably more geared toward consulting than a skill related field. What other kinds of jobs should I apply for?

My main passions are health, nutrition, psychology and public health.

barry0912 answers:

I find it ironic that you got a four-year degree in entrepreneurship/business management and didn’t mention anything concerning starting and running your own business. The brainwashing of us Americans into the template of automatically looking for jobs working for someone else is very strong. Unless, of course, you’ve already considered this and have no interest in this possibility.

As a business owner, you have total control of what you do and don’t do and your rewards when/if successful are virtually unlimited. And many businesses don’t require a lot of money to start. Plus it’s possible to get money in other ways other than out of your own pockets to start your business.

If you are interested, I would consider books written by Tyler G. Hicks. He has been writing books on this subject for many years (I recently got one with a copyright of 1966) and they are very good, IMHO. The only thing out of date seems to be the dollar examples he uses based on all the inflation over the years. He is still in business today. A number of people ding his books in reviews because he doesn’t take you through the whole process step by step and sometimes plugs his other materials, but I like him. I can virtually guarantee you’ll learn from his books. A true entrepreneur doesn’t need hand-holding. Just info, guidance, encouragement and options. I recently ordered a book of his entitled, “How to Build a Second Income Fortune in Your Spare Time” with a copyright of 1965, that I would very highly recommend to you in spite of its age. I’m only up to page 75 so far but it’s very, very good. I’m very glad I bought it.

I would suggest you go to Amazon.com or some other used book sellers on the internet and see if any of his books interest you and possibly get some ideas going in your head in the fields you are most interested in.

In school did you take coursework in business formation, business law, marketing and advertising? There are many good books on these subjects and I would use the reviews on Amazon.com to find the best ones to help you. Other business books on the subjects of interest and need to you to help you be super successful should also be considered. To look for good books on legal issues and the mechanics, I’d consider Nolo.com as an initial place to look. Their books are most often high quality, although some are of course better than others.

I am presently working on starting a nonprofit. It’s pretty hard to get fired when you’re the owner of the company. Plus, you can work at any job within your company as you desire. And switch around whenever you like. Or stay small and do it all. Or start off small and expand as you need or desire to. You can also start your business part-time while working a regular job until you start making way more money in your own business. Plus you can have more than one small business going at the same time if you’re so inclined.

My opinion is it’s pretty hard to beat the advantages and potential of the job of business owner. No matter what you do, it will build on your degree and experience in your field. That’s my suggestion.

Good luck, Lala. 🙂

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Strategies

Lisa asks…

What are some secrets to network marketing?

I am planning to do network marketing, does anyone have any suggestions or hints or warnings? Thank you very much

barry0912 answers:

I have to say YES to Blaze8 answer and would have said: the secret is that you have to OWN the network marketing company in order to profit from it.

You should rather do AFFILIATE NETWORK MARKETING instead of dealing with network marketing, as it is straight forward and you are not married with a specific company.

What you need to know is a lot of MARKETING know how first!

The key for NOT BEING SCAMMED is know ledge.

DO NOT JOIN A COMPANY. Invest in yourself first.

What makes you money is SOLID Internet Marketing Know How.

If you do not know how to promote offers on the Internet, you will fail.
The way to make money online can be done in two ways:

1.) create your own digital products and sell them and get paid for it
2.) offer your service as web designer or marketer and get paid directly
3.) market OTHER products from companies that pay you a commission
this called AFFILIATE MARKETING

for 3.) which is in my opinion the best potential you need to do a research
on which companies you can trust, HOWEVER! – i you need the same know
how that is needed for 1.) and 2.)

You need to understand the marketing basics.

NO Product sells itself. Do not fall for stupid websites that claim
that their products sell literally “themselves”. (I personally even promote
a lottery network and people love to play lotteries, but you still need to know
how to read people that are willing to PAY FOR LOTTERY TICKETS!).

OK, you need to learn the following things:

1. How people move online – what is “traffic” – how do people find websites online
and buy there?

2. How to create a website that sells – this is a know how you need either to sell
your own OR other products. It is important that you understand that it is not so
difficult to create COMPELLING websites that make people WANT TO BUY from
you.

3. Learn psychological strategies and sales processes.

I CAN ONLY REPEAT:

without this know how you will fail with all companies,
whether they are legitimate or not.

Do not join anything before you have solid know how.
No magical program will make you reach, only getting yourself
to the point to know what you need to do.

HINTS TO GET STARTED:

1.) Learn how to manage yourself first
http://www.twittermega.com/time-management (free!)

2.) Learn the basics on marketing and Internet Know How

(those resources are not free, but solid)
be careful with a lot of “free resources”, they always
still want to sell you something are are never “independent”

http://www.twittermega.com/time-management
http://www.twittermega.com/affiliate-marketing
http://www.twittermega.com/webmaster

3.) Master the basics, then you can choose any product
or company and make money with them.

THERE IS SO MUCH CRAP OUT THERE, you need to
invest in yourself first and do not believe false claims of
websites that tell you unbelievable “over night” riches.

Where can I get objective advice on an Internet advertising model?

I’m trying to find a qualified resource to provide some generic answers concerning a new Internet advertising model. Basically this model will offer potential advertisers a low monthly volume of extremely high-quality leads. The questions I have relate to a) pricing and b) marketing this new service. So, where do I look for this advice?

barry0912 answers:

I find questions that require a “deeper” answer get better answers in the Q&A of LinkedIn. Their Q&A attracts a lot of professionals in the field of marketing, advertising and in this case, direct marketing.

My suggestion is to look at some examples of this type of business model. Franchising brokers and directories, for example, offer this type of business model where the advertisers (franchisers) post their info for a fee and then they pay based on the leads that they get

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Degree

Ruth asks…

What can I do with a graphic design degree?

I am a married woman, and so I only have a few colleges to chose from that are near my home that I can afford. That said, I am considering majoring in Graphic Design, with a concentration in Digital Art, but I am not sure what I can do with the degree once I get it. Can anybody give me some information on jobs available for somebody who majors in Graphic Design and if it is hard to find jobs. I live in South Carolina, and I don’t want to move. I live in a small town sandwiched between two pretty big cities, Spartanburg and Greenville. Would there be jobs available in this area?

barry0912 answers:

The advertising business employs graphic artists, which there would be a market for anywhere that there are customers. Nowadays you could even do it remotely through the Internet. Books and magazines can use graphic artists, which means you could be employed by a publisher.
