Robert asks…

How does Internet marketing differ from traditional marketing?

barry0912 answers:

Contrary to popular belief, internet marketing does not differ too much from traditional marketing.

The internet affords us a faster and more convenient way to reach our target audience. It also expands our target audience to include those globally, where traditional marketing would be focussed more on local targets. Those points would make up the main differences.

One of the very exciting things about internet marketing is that it opens the floodgates for the everyday man or woman in the street to participate in an arena where they can own their own business, for minimal outlay and small ongoing costs.

When you cut through all the hype and clutter online, its very easy to see that the traditional marketing systems, focuses and requirements are still there. Its just that many enterprising folks have found a way to make things easier and faster, via the internet.

Mary asks…

I would like to learn more about the stock market, can someone tell me where to start?

I am interested in the goings on of the stock market. I would like to know how to decipher everything and possibly do some informed investing on my own. Can someone show me where to begin learning about it?

barry0912 answers:

Standard investment advice is that you should invest in a diversified mix of stocks, bonds, and money market funds. If you are like most people you will invest part of your money aggressively in stocks, and part conservatively in money market funds and bond funds. Vanguard has an on-line questionnaire which will give you an idea of how to do “Asset Allocation,” determining how much to put in each type of fund.

You want to buy a diversified portfolio of stocks as individual stocks are too risky. Highly knowleadgable people can buy a properly balanced portfolio, but most folks have a difficult time balancing things on their own. They will misbalance their portfolio by buying all small stocks or all growth stocks, or some other misbalanced assortment of stocks. Back in 2000, Some people bought all internet stocks; they got burnt when they all crashed together. You have to diversify across industries. Unless you know what you are doing, it is best to buy mutual funds. I like Vanguard.com, other people like Fidelity, TIAA-CREF, and DFA. Buy no-load, low cost funds.

If your company offers a 401K plan at work, try to invest the most you can. The money grows tax free, and some companies will match your contribution. Investing in a mutual fund IRA is also a good idea. If you have children, you may want to consider a 529 plan or other college savings plan that grows tax free.

I like index funds. Because of their broad diversification, you are less likely to have a dramatic drop in value. They also have the lowest expenses. For stock funds, I would suggest putting ~70-80% of your money in the Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund. And ~20-30% in a foreign stock index fund. However, there are many different opinions out there on what the best mutual funds are. Read the links below and form your own opinion.

If you have high-interest debt, like credit cards, it is best to pay this off first before trying most of the investment ideas above. You should also have 3-6 months of salary saved up as an emergency fund in a bank or money market fund before trying more risky investments.

Believing advice you get on Yahoo answers can be risky, so read these websites for further information. If you find it too confusing, contact a professional financial advisor. They will charge you significant commissions, however.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Services

Where is the best place to advertise for Virtual Assistant Services?

I have recently set up a virtual assistance company with a team of 5 virtual assitance who can do literally anything which is web based or pc based. The problem, where do i advertise and how do i market for this service. How do find clients?

barry0912 answers:

Marketing is key to your service, as with any business. As you’re geared for working on the web and with PC’s, make full use of the internet for marketing. Make sure your site is optimised for the search engines. Become involved in sites/blogs/directories that relate to your target market.

Networking groups are a good way of meeting business people who need help with the things that a Virtual Assistant can do.

Are you UK based? Business Link and Chambers of Commerce both run regular events.

Good luck!

David asks…

What is the greatest obstacle to finding an internet marketing mentor?

One of the things that the majority of folks most often misunderstand about finding an internet mentor to help them out is they tend to think they have to pay enormous sums of money for a consultant, a coaching program or some other such thing…do you find this to be the case?

barry0912 answers:

There are really two sides to this coin with a variety of hungry vultures hanging out on each.

FREE ADVICE
Ever hear the old adage that you get what you pay for? To a certain extent it’s true. However, you will indeed find many sites that offer free advice. The problem is, unless your a smart Internet Marketer your not going to know the good advice from the bad. What’s worse, since you are needing the advice it’s likely that you have not gained all the wisdom you are looking for yet. This ends up being a vicious circle with no real end.

That’s why SEO & Beyond provides a free website analysis for anyone who asks (at least they do as of this writing). They believe that doing so goes beyond advice into actively participating in the lives of those who are looking to use their service.

You can check out more about that at the following link.
===> http://search-engine-optimization-and-beyond.com/A-simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=36.0
I was quite pleased with the review they gave my http://commit2fit.info website.

PAID ADVICE
If you are going to have someone train you to be a successful Internet Marketer, then find someone willing to give you some type of guarantee.

“If our system doesn’t work for you, then you don’t pay a dime!”

It’s a gutsy approach to be sure. But it goes beyond the idea of pay us all your money and you will be a success approach. With this method you don’t know if you are being sucker punched or not and all you have to show for it in the end will be absolutely nothing.

I do know that there are indeed many people out there willing to provide a ton of advice if you pay them. I don’t know if anyone has the guts to work by the above approach. If I did I would probably sign up for their course in a second. When paying for a mentor or what not the heavy burden for success should be on the shoulders of the one providing the assistance rather than the one paying the bill.

THE MORAL
Pay for a mentor if and only if the mentor believes in their services enough to give you an awesome guarantee otherwise stick with the free advice; or better yet free website reviews.

How to get basic understanding about stock market?

What do you think the best way for me will be to get basic, beginners understanding about the share market?

I will warn you that there is a tremendous amount of stock investing books and websites that teach stock investing strategies that don’t work. Particularly bad are people that teach “technical analysis” systems that sound impressive, but don’t work.

Linda asks…

Cheapest place to find a good stihl weedeater on internet?

I am looking for a stihl weedeater on the internet.
I live in a really small town and I have looked on craigslist and the closest one is about 5 hours away…So yes i know what that website is but I live in a small town and people don’t sale them at garage sales or put them on craigslist.

barry0912 answers:

Well first, even though i imagine you could find a decent STHL on the internet, but your question clearly says cheapest. Thus i recommend these 3 ways
1.) Local garage sales
2.)Outdoor or indoor swap meet or open air market
3.)look in news paper, penny saver,or local thrift stores

you could also try Craigslist but that’s a pretty scary venture. Too bad your not in Northern California, i have two neighbors that are tree trimmers and have 5 or 6 laying around.

John asks…

where can i find a top notch sales manager with internet marketing experience?

My firm, Endai Worldwide is looking for a sales manager, with online marketing knowledge and experience. I am interested and open to any new ideas and thoughts on where to find this person.

 solar movie online

barry0912 answers:

There are several options. If you, yourself or anyone on your team have the time and penchant to conduct the search, then make a list of companies that provide similar services to yours – ideally based in your geographical area, if you want the Manager based there (if not, it is a lesser concern). Identify, approach and recruit the people who drive the business to the funnel of those companies….etc. And there is alot of etcetera.

A suggestion would be to partner with an executive search firm, and have them conduct the search for you in a prioritized manor. Hobson Associates has one of the best reputations for your niche.

How can I generate leads/sign ups to my domain?

I’m having a very hard time trying to find people who would be interested in joining my downline. It could be either because they’re selfish (because they’re internet marketers who won’t help struggling ones), or chicken birds (the ones who are scared), or the leads are too expensive.

I’m currently enrolled with 7 Figure Marketing School and I’m having no luck.

Is there anybody who in internet marketing and can help out? Where could I generate automatic leads or sign-ups for my downline?

barry0912 answers:

Be careful when purchasing leads. These folks have not specifically asked you for information and you will also find that most of these leads are shared with others.

Your best results will always be with leads that you generate yourself.

It may take a bit of effort to setup your traffic and lead generation system … But it will certainly be worth it in the long run.

It is relatively easty to use social media like facebook, youtube, twitter and myspace to attract like minded people to you. Directing them to a blog is a great way to provide value to your prospect and introduce them to your business.

You can find quite a few free resources that can teach you attraction marketing and lead generation techniques.

A free site that I direct my team to is at http://www.freedom-at-last.com

Good luck with your efforts. Let me know if I can be of service.

Know why Google retreat from China ?

I can tell you based on the huge population and rapid growth in economics, the internet booms prosperously in China and many Web companies retrieve unbelievable success here such as QQ, Baidu, TaoBao, etc. But unfortunately few foreign company among them.

There are many explanations including huge culture rift, weak copyright protection, strict news censorship, and so on. It is difficult to give you the reliable infomation — and you’d better not trust the data from Chinese goverment until you’re sure you have a good understanding of Chinese goverment — but Google is a good case for research.

barry0912 answers:

To make serious money self employed you have to become famous in your market

Learn how to write press releases Then do a bit of charity work helping someone fix their computer Then write a press release and send it to the local paper
Remember this item should be news worthy and have an interesting photo

I once had a two page spread in our local paper worth thousands in advertising
and a 2 minute feature on regional BBC TV news hitting millions of potential customers

You may also try a marketing network These are usually breakfast meetings where local traders promote you to their customers and you do likewise to yours

Remember that relying only on word of mouth is a dangerous marketing tactic as in a few months your customers will find someone else to talk about Your work will dry up and you will then blame the economy or something…
