Your Questions About Title 9

William asks…

What is the NCAA Title 9 (IX) rule?

I still don’t understand what the rule is. And why do they stop some colleges from participating in some sports in regard to the rule

barry0912 answers:

I’m very passionate about women’s sports and I’ve played many throughout my life. This is the best answer I can give you:

In 1972, Congress passed the Educational Amendments to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. One important section of this law, Title IX, changed the landscape of intercollegiate athletics, especially for women. It states: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance” (Salter 6).

Title IX meant greater opportunity for women’s participation in college athletics traditionally only available to men and effected women’s lives in a positive manner.

In the 35 years following the passage of Title IX in 1972, the federal legislation that mandates equal opportunities for men and women, has prompted significant increases in participation opportunities for high school and college female athletes. Many advances have been made for girls and women in sport, but equity has yet to be achieved. However, major discrepancies still exist in the area of facilities, travel schedules, and support services, and equity in equipment provided. We have yet to reach the point of fairness in America’s education sports programs.

Michael asks…

When will the discriminatory law, Title 9 finally end?

barry0912 answers:

Title 9 is NOT discriminatory.

Title IX was put in place to guarantee women had equal access to sports – that’s the opposite of discriminatory.

College presidents are using Title IX as an excuse to cut sports programs that don’t make the university money.

TAHIRA- So, the 52 Americans held for 444 days in the embassy was not threatening the US? Wow, you’re dumb!

Sharon asks…

Whats the best book to read on starting a internet business?

I’m a complete beginner and dont know a lot about internet business so the book has to be for beginners.

barry0912 answers:

There’s probably a book in the “For Dummies” series you can pick up, much of one’s real world education happens online, hanging around Internet Marketing Forums, one popular with beginners that has a lot of training titles, some good, some not, that are reasonably priced, on their WSO section is WarriorForum.com.

Many people start with affiliate marketing, which has virtually no startup cost, although realistically if you planned to make a living at it, it might take at least 6 months to learn the ropes and setup the means to get lost of eyes on your ads.

An online store will require some inventory and if self hosted, some cost for the facilities. An eBay or Amazon store are the easy way to get started. It’s a highly competitive world, the winning stores seem to buy in volume and sell with razor thin margins in some areas like electronics.

barry0912 answers:

My wife and I work for ChaCha.com, you need a referral in order to get signed up.

It’s absolutely Free (but you will need to go through a series of tests to see if your English and Research skills are up to par).

It works like this, you need a PC with internet and Firefox. You get a popup letting you know someone texted in a question to Chacha on their phone. You research the answer and paste it in the website and it sends your text message back to them. If you are interested, you can message me and I’ll send you a
referral and the website. They pay .20 per text that you answer and it takes about 2-5 minutes of research to find an answer (it isn’t a fortune but a person can easily make $150 – $200 a month doing this).

barry0912 answers:

Your resume should be tailored to your targeted job. If you have varied skills, you don’t want to include all of them on one resume. That dilutes your expertise for what the job requires. You need to tailor your resume for every position you apply for. The only way to win an interview and to beat out your competition is to dovetail what you know and can do to the job’s responsibilities. In other words, paint yourself as the perfect candidate for the position. If you write a general resume in which you list all of your many and varied skills, you won’t get many responses. Hiring managers are looking for a perfect fit.
