Internet marketing question?

My first time using Y!Answers so here goes:

I would like to know where i could find data, statistics about how implementation of various features in a website affects its traffic and bounce rate.

More detailed: i would like to know what is , on average, the potential gain in traffic of an online shopping web site for certain implemented features: polls, quizzes, personal blogs.

Thank you.

I highly recommend Marketing Sherpa;

They have very useful statistics and metric data on what you’re looking for. My suggestions is that you simply start implementing the features you mentioned one by one and measure them with web analytics. Statistics are useful, and should be used as a general guideline. Online shopping is a very unique beast; every industry, every niche and even categories within niches, will always present quite different behaviors and performances, which are highly influenced by demographics, seasonality and other metrics.

At our agency, we are constantly optimizing our client’s websites beyond search. Conversion optimization is a key factor when it comes to shopping websites. Polls, quizzes, blogs, reviews, testimonials, etc, all play a role in it, but don’t always apply to every site.

Make this part of your interactive marketing efforts and you’ll be successful.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Company

Susan asks…

How do I track down my clients with only a name and postcode?

It is only in the last couple of years that I have understood the power of internet marketing. Prior to that I did not even grasped the importance of keeping a list. Basically, I would like to track my previous customers through the courier company I have used over the years (Parcel Force). Unfortunately Parcel Force only show their names and postal code. How can I complete the address (ie their house number)? Thanks for your help.

barry0912 answers:

Look them up in the phone book (online) and hope that their name + postal code is enough to find most of them. (Postal code will narrow them down to an area within a city)

Fear of the market; should a person avoid starting an online business when the economy is down?

I want to start an internet company offering speciality products that help people and relate to the travel industry. I get told that i’m crazy- that the economy is bad, nobody is buying anything, and travel is a joke.

barry0912 answers:

While the economy is definitely in a cycle that isn’t wonderful right now…don’t let anyone tell you there is ‘no’ business going on.

The travel industry is notable a lucrative one as people with money still travel…maybe not as often, but they do.

In this market, consider what is your USP (unique selling position) so that you can structure your product/service offering to have the greatest impact.

Also it’d be well advised to decide who your target audience will be, their demographics, etc. A great read if you’re going after those that still have cash to spend is a book by Dan Kennedy called “No B.S. Marketing To The Affluent”… It’ll give you a fresh insight into a vary interesting segment of the market and what they’re looking for and how to position yourself to sell to that audience.

After you’ve done your research, decided what your USP is going to be, get that domain online and start to marketing. Get those leads online and take them offline as quickly as possible (eg; SEO to your website…then get those customers on the phone or with something in their mailbox where it’s not as noisy as their email inbox).

Hope this helps.

How can I find accurate demographics showing who holds the wealth in America?

A few years ago a marketing company posted statistics on the web. They stated that the vast majority of wealth in America was in the hands of women 55 to 70 years old (you know, oppressed minority members like Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Oprah, the Walton girls, etc.) Then it was abruptly pulled from the internet and now I can’t find statistics at all to either substantiate or disprove it. Any ideas where I can find a good source for that information?

Niche Selection Rules

Locating the Exceptional Promoting Specialized niche

The ideal marketing and advertising is that that has been suitable for a certain target audience. Having a campaign targeted at a diverse , wide-spread market weakens your efforts. Even significant businesses target their ad ads upon specified focal groups. That’s the reason online surveys are of help to most significant organizations; they assist any of them uncover who’s going to be getting their gadget , as well as what demographics to shoot for.

Identical idea should be a part of your advertising campaign. Determine the very best sector , and then cater to their requirements. Finding that sector is usually a lot more hard than you might think about , however.

Hottest Is Not Really Always Most effective

Without doubt it can’t often be denied that the leading niches will likely come filled with potential consumers. This sort of niches usually are areas like fat loss , physical fitness , cooking , modern technology and tools and so on. These have a very wide-spread enchantment , plus they are high dollar industries. So why wouldn’t you select one of them as the target market?

Mainly because though there could be billions of dollars every month spent, the opposition in all those niche categories is definitely fierce. You will discover certainly countless potential customers , but there are also thousands and thousands of businesses presently campaigning for their particular consideration. I am not saying a popular niche is bad , just comprehend the prospects any time you select one of them. Massive doesn’t necessarily equal definite thing.

Mid-Range Markets

All these could be the niche categories that can sometimes be the very toughest to sell. They’ve a particular target audience , but it is rather complacent , and there are still almost certainly many merchandise being shopped all over inside them. The center of the road niches will also be likely to end up tricky to solve , and get care for.

They can be effective , if you want a good task , as well as have an investigative thought process that can work out new methods to win over clients who have possible experienced everything.

The Micro-Niche

The little looking name , fits the fact that these kinds of niche categories are usually very highly customized , as well as somewhat small. Nonetheless , slight may be a relative word. They have a tendency to be slight when compared with the high dollar markets in the best tiers , and perhaps much smaller compared to the mid-range target. On the other hand , you might be surprised the amount of men and women are interested in a product that has a fixed enchantment. Take into consideration markets like “maternity wear” or ‘goldfish producing.’ Both of these niche categories usually are a part of a far , much bigger niche market women’s wear and domestic pets. Actually , the actual parent market of such could be from the first category of most in-demand niche categories.

By simply aiming at a really small area of an incredibly popular area of interest , you’ll be able to produce a lot more persuasive copy , and also find a portion which may really feel neglected of the core niche. Women’s clothing is usually a top market , and competitive sports apparel , denims , t-shirts almost all benefit from a lots of interest , but maternity attire is definitely slight , sometimes missed portion of that topic. Same goes with goldfish farming with regards to the common family pet care products intended for dog and also cats.

Obviously these are simply illustrations , but it is the reasoning associated with micro-niches that make all of them an even more riveting possibility for promoters.
