Your Questions About Internet Marketing Jobs

Linda asks…

Is it possible to do network marketing online without having to actually speak to people over the phone?

I love Melaleuca products and would like to join the company as a rep to make money and also because I feel passionate about there products, however I am not keen on network marketing the old fashioned way by prospecting people that aren’t looking for an opportunity. Is there any way the build a sucessful online business by using a website that creates free leads and is fully optimized ( this I don’t know how to do currently, but also really want to learn!) If so how and where would I go from there? I am new to Internet Marketing, but I really want to learn it and market a product that I love. I haven’t signed up with Melaleuca yet as I am looking for a rep who currently markets the product this way and is sucessful at it. I would like a mentor that can guide me through this and help me realize my dream of financial freedom. There are so many scammers out there, I just want to learn for myself a duplicatible system that I can use and pass down to the people that I may introduce.
Can only legit people respond, I am not interested in any remarks, I am looking for a genuine answer!

Hi,

Continue to use Melaleuca products if you like them, but be forewarned here: http://www.tto.bcs.uwa.edu.au/TTO_home/faq

I’m glad you have not signed up yet. You will not find financial freedom in Network Marketing. Believe me – been there, done that.

Wow! I’m glad you asked about MLM, aka Network Marketing.

Freakanomics is right – network marketing is a hoax. Get the book:. Freakonomics [Revised and Expanded]: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything (Hardcover) by Steven D. Levitt

Get this book at your local libary or Amazon: (False Profits: Seeking Financial and Spiritual Deliverance in Multi-Level Marketing and Pyramid Schemes (Paperback)
by Robert L. Fitzpatrick .

Only the most virulent, ruthless, aggressive, con artists are successful at Network Marketing. You have to be willing to screw a lot of people into thinking you have a plan for financial Nirvana and they will talk a lot about altruism and spirituality and how working an ordinary job is a dead end They call it Just Over Broke (JOB). In reality, you will go broke buying worthless MLM products at sky-high prices.

It’s like a chain letter, a pyramid, a Ponzi scheme. Don’t believe people when they say it isn’t. They lie through their teeth. MLM is a snake-pit of liars and those that aren’t lying are hopelessly misinformed.

Read this before you waste any money on Network Marketing: (http://skepdic.com/mlm.html).

You will hear a lot of arguments that make network marketing sound like the Holy Grail of home based “businesses”. Like comparing apples to computer chips. You will always hear some very convincing arguments that it is legitimate – every one is a con and illustrates how creative con artists are.

The are very CON-vincing – that’s convincing with a capital C for calamnity, a big O for obnoxious, and N for nauseous. There are no nuggets in this scam. See: (http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/mlm.html).

Here are the 10 biggest lies of network marketing (http://www.mlmwatch.org/01General/10lies.html); read the truth and steer clear of this world-wide hoax.

MLM is the biggest scam in the world and it is going global with companies like Tiens.

They will tell you that all you need is fresh leads from a good mailing list and people will sign up faster than a NASCAR race car.

Are you kidding me? Fresh MLM leads! Don’t fall for that.

Get real.

Remember, There’s a sucker born every minute…and two to take ’em. Burn that into your brain.

If their leads are so good, where is their money-back guarantee? Leadbakery is just one example of a list seller and they are even worse than the MLM companies.

Listen! There has never been a successful course or book on MLM success – all boil down to this:

talk to lots of people with questions like “If I could show you a way to make lots of money quick, would you be interested?” or “If I could show you a sure-fire way to build a financial fortress that would protect you forever, would you be iinterested?” or “Social Security is not secure. Build a MLM company and retire rich”.

That’s the first warning sign that something is rotten in Denmark.

Yes, some will sign up, but unless you are a “heavy hitter” and use illegal methods to trap people into becoming distributors, honest people cannot succeed at this.

Do you know why these courses never work? None of them work because the concept is a con – it’s the confidence man’s dream, jam packed with hype and hyposcrisy.

The only people that will be making money are the list brokers selling the mailing list – and the course writers and seminar creators. If it was such a good deal, why wouldn’t they join a MLM company? The mailing list would be free to them. You don’t see them giving up a lucrative mailing list business to get into something that doesn’t work. They are smart. They get it. And expensive training courses – what a joke. They offer courses that will never work for the gullible and naive – the GRQ crowd.

And I always wondered why none of the people who worked the administrative side of the “business” were not distributors if it was such a great deal. They knew a job was better than the smoke and mirrors, pie in the sky hype used to sell MLM. They knew that only the heavy hitters made any real money.

MLM is the world’s biggest scam. I have tried it a couple of times, the last being Herbalife. It has now moved into the Internet to trap people into believing that they can Get Rich Quick. It is going global.

The only way to make big money is to sell distributorships for thousands of dollars or sell seminar tapes and books.

I once went to a seminar given by Herbalife. The president came to speak. We thought we would learn the secret from the horses mouth on how to get the fiasco to work. We couldn’t believe how shallow his advice was. It boiled down to “talk to a lot of people”. That was his “secret”..

If you do the math, and you are able to sign up lots of people, which is doubtful, you soon run out of people. You get 2, then those 2 get 2, etc. It the old binary progression. Do it 10 times and you are in the thousands. With every progression, the number doubles. 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024, 2024,4048,9096. The problem is those people in the beginning of the progression opt-out and gobble up the progression faster than Pac-Man. This is known as the “Drop Out Rate”.

So what happens when thousands of people are doing this and with the internet it could be millions. You soon run out of people to talk to. And most people are smart enough to know it’s a scam so right away you lose a huge part of potential prospects.

Think about it.

In fact, finally, the numbers will exceed the entire world’s population. It is a total dream world, a fantasy, completely out of touch with reality. It always looks good on paper, but none of the “heavy hitters” want to talk about drop-out rates.

Hey! What looks good in a spreadsheet, doesn’t translate to reality.

The fact is that only the people who set up the program make money. The next level is all those scam artists that sell and give seminars on how to succeed in MLM. None of the schemes work because the concept is fatally flawed.

Why would anyone with a brain pay $30 for an herbal shampoo that they can buy at the local supermarket for $1. The same with pomegranate juice and Noni joice and all the other miracle juices, algae, and other strange things, even flower pollen.

Are you kidding me?

Get real.

Next, you will read all the anecdotal claims that the product will cure cancer and all sorts of other maladies. This is just another form of fraud. Where are the scientific double and triple blind studies? There ain’t any. Sorry.

Listen! Ask about the drop-out rate. Yes, the drop out rate.

Over 99% of the people who sign up will drop out after a few months or less. So even if you sign up a few people, they will be gone in months, if not weeks, when they find out how many people they have to talk to for just one distributor.

And your friends, co-workers, and relatives will not like you badgering them to join and will avoid you at all costs.

And most of the people who sign up are down-and-out desperate, who can ill afford to waste their money and who may be liable to criminal prosecution for promoting unregistered securities. And that’s just in the USA. Foreign companies like Tiens leave you no recourse to any real legal remedies or enforcement.

Most of these programs die eventually leaving the suckers who signed up holding the bag. I had them die on me and not knowing any better, signed up for the latest MLM scam. After several attempts, I finally came to realize that it was all just a scam – some people became almost like religious zealots when they talked about their program that was going to make everyone rich and quick too. I lost a good friend when he believed my wild claims, put down $3,000 and lost it all.

The “industry” is full of disingenuous people whose mantra is “Fake it ’til you make it”. Doesn’t work. More fraud. They will give you testimonials of people who have made money, but they are liars and what they say cannot be proven. If it’s so great why is there so much hype?

Here is a trick your upline will employ to get reluctant prospects to sign up. They will tell Ms. Reluctant that they will put some people under her and they take Mr. Hopeful who has already become a distributor and paid the fee and stick him under Ms. Reluctant which forces Ms. Reluctant to either buy in or lose the distributor. This is what happened to me in Herbalife. I was Mr. Hopeful. I thought I was signing up under a successful guy at the top known as a “heavy hitter”, but I soon found out I had been scammed. Without telling me, he put me under Ms. Reluctant to force Ms. Reluctant to become a distributor. I did not like my new sponsor and after spending thousands on mailings, I finally dropped out. This is known as “stacking” and is supposedly illegal but it happens all the time.

Listen! My upline in Herbalife made more money selling a sales pamphlet than they did working their MLM business. We mailed out thousands of these pamphlets that we bought from our sponsor for a dime and he probably had them printed for a penny or less. He sold so many of them he had to set up a warehouse to hold and ship them.

Now, it’s all done on the Internet via e-mail. But instead of mailing booklets, you get a Web site and collect e-mail addresses. But a fraud is still a fraud no matter what the media is that promotes it.

This was right before the Internet became popular and I was buying mailing lists through mailing list brokers and mailing thousands of booklets with not much success. I was lucky if 1% of 1% signed up as distributors. And they dropped out faster than I could add new ones.. Pretty soon, you run out of quality people to mail to. The internet makes this even worse, but they have to be more careful, but the spam continues to explode.

Check out this Web site: http://www.vandruff.com/mlm_faq.html… – for more facts, not hype about MLM and what a world-wide fraud it is.

I will probably get lots of MLMers who will villify me for trashing MLM, but I’ve been there and done it and I know first hand what a fraudulent scam it is that can destroy your life, drain you wallet and ruin your friendships.

P.S. Remember, there are no get rich quick schemes that work. If there were, the entire world would be rich in an instant, or as they say, a New York minute. I used to be gullible and naive and fell for some of them – no more. Be a sceptic. Be a doubting Thomas. Why are there thousands of GRQ schemes, because they work! Thousands of Gullible people believe that there is such a thing as GRQ and con artists take advantage of that. Demand proof, not hype.

P.P.S. Jeekers! You gotta remember – if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

P.P.P.S. Find some other way to make money. Have you tried e-bay? Get this book – How to Buy, Sell & Profit on eBay by Adam Ginsberg. Get this one too – Don’t Get Burned on eBay by Shauna Wright. It cost nothing to sign up and find out about it. There are lots of tutorials where you can learn from the experts and most of it is free. Try getting free tutorials and expert advice from the so-called MLM gurus – free stuff would ruin their con.

City Loan Long Beach a legit business and seems to have a good customer service since they are rated A+ by the Better Business Bureau. In their BBB profile, it says that they have only 11 complaints for the last 3 years, which is a very low rate for car title loans industry (their main competitor has 147 complaints!).

Actually it was illegal as of December 1.

I’d suggest that you call the Department of Financial Institutions at (608) 261-9555. They regulate payday loans and probably used to regulate title loans before they were banned.

If that’s not successful, you might try calling your state senator or representative. If you don’t know who they are, you can call your public library and ask a reference librarian.

Another possible source of help would be your police or sheriff’s department consumer fraud division.

If nothing else works, someone at your bank or credit union (preferably) might be able to help you.

Sandy asks…

Kansas internet marketing?

I’m looking for an internet marketing company with websites for local communitys in KS like Manhattan, Lawrence, Topeka, and Kansas City. I’m not having much luck with searching around, I want to find a company that controls multiple websites with traffic for the cities I mentioned.

barry0912 answers:

Hi,

If your Web site have lots of pictures, but hardly any text (also called content or information). The search engines ignore graphics. They use software robots called spiders that spider your Web site (crawl through the text). Because you have very little content, the spiders will not find your Web site very tasty and will virtually ignore it.

Which means you will get very little traffic to your Web site in the form of visitors, surfers, tire kickers, etc. When you went looking for a Web Site Builder, you should have made sure that they did search engine marketing (SEM) or optimization (SEO) – creating the Web site is only 10% of the project. The other 90% is SEM.

To check how your Web site ranks go to (http://traffic-test.sitesell.com/waltera1.html). No data means that the search engines don’t know you exist, you are invisible to them. Invisible means no traffic = no visitors = no sales = no money.

Hiring an expert to do SEM is expensive.

You can apply to DMOS for a listing in their directory (http://dmoz.org/help/geninfo.html). It takes a long time to get accepted because a real person looks at your application, not a software robot like the search engine spider programs.

If you are lucky enough to get listed, Google will index your Web site. You can also submit your Google sitemap to Google to get them to index your Web site. You have to go to Google and get the URL for the sitemap and then create a separate Web page for that sitemap.

I assume you want to get a low page rank in Google. If that is true you need to do search engine marketing (SEM).

If you had the right Site Build It software, Site Build it software would do all submitting for you automatically.

Here is a tool you can use to check on how your Web site stacks up against other Web sites – (http://searchit.sitesell.com/waltera1.html). Check for Popularity to get Alexa Rank.

There are only 4 or 5 search engines worth submitting to, the rest are a waste of time and money.

The best way to get traffic is via lots of pages with quality content for the SEs to spider.

Craigslist is just one arrow in your quiver of search engine marketing arrows. It’s free.

Hey! Did you know that the major search engines are going local? They are spending millions on local search. This is just another reason to have your own Web site, such as whatever.com. You should definitely have a dot com as part of your URL. This is what surfers expect.

SEO or search engine marketing (SEM) is critical for the success of your web site. Without it, you will get no targeted traffic.

If you own a Web site, the Web site building software should have included SEO. Otherwise, using the software is a waste of time; the Web site building software is useless. SEO includes Internet marketing and while articles posting, etc. Is important, the most important thing is to select the right keywords that people use to find your Web site. You need to do keyword analysis to find the best keywords for your Web site.

Then, you need to sprinkle those keywords onto your Web pages so that the search engines will find them as their spiders crawl your Web site as well as putting them in your Title, Keywords, headings and description.

Why? Think about how the major search engines work. They key on what word or phrases the users enter. How do you find keywords that users want? Use Google itself at this URL:

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Just enter your keyword and it will tell you what the demand is for that keyword and how much it would cost to advertise it on Google via Google AdWords.

Supply and demand is important for keywords. You want to find the keywords with a huge demand, but very little supply.

Let me digress here and explain Supply and Demand. Assume that bad weather wipes out the coffee growing part of the world. The supply of coffee world-wide drops. But the demand is the same or increasing. Because there is a disconnect between the demand and the supply, the price of coffee goes up. It becomes a scarce commodity. Scarcity drives up prices. Look at oil and gasoline. There is plenty of oil, but the oil cartel, the companies that control how much oil is pumped out of the ground, decides how much to pump. They make sure they don’t pump too much. This would increase the supply and drive down the price of oil and gasoline. Same thing happens to coffee. The growers will plant more coffee to offset their bad year and soon the price of coffee plummets.

Same with keywords, some are scarce. Those are the ones you want, high demand, little supply.

Another good keyword analyzer is Wordtracker.com. This will cost you money, but it’s the best on the Web.

This is a very good book for building traffic: Search Engine Optimization – An Hour A Day by Jennifer Grappone and Gradiva Couzin. Their advice is mostly free.

With this book you do not need any costly SEO services.

There are Web site builders that do most of this SEO for you. Most free web site builders do not include SEO. That’s why most of them are a waste of time. Creating a Web site is easy, but it is only 10% of the job. The other 90% is SEO and it is critically important.

Do you know about Alexa rank? Alexa is an Amazon company that ranks Web sites. It takes the most active Web site which total about 65 million and compares your web site to all of them. Here is how to get to the Alexa Point Test:.http://traffic-test.sitesell.com/waltera1.html
If you have a rank under 500,000 you are doing good, it you are under 100,000 you are fantastic. Google is under 10. (http://traffic-test.sitesell.com/waltera1.html) Most free Web sites get a rank of “no data”; that means they are invisible to the search engines; they get no visitors, no targeted traffic. No traffic = no money.

The Web sites that score high on Alexa have lots of content. Content is king on the Internet. What is content? Its information, information that visitors find interesting and relevant to your keywords. The more pages you have on your Web site, the better. If you have only 5 or 6 pages, the search engines will ignore you. Once you get to about 30 pages, the search engines will begin to take notice. At that time you should begin to link to other Web sites. The search engines love links, but you must avoid link farms.

Trying to game the search engines is a thankless task. They have computer science PHds developing their search engine spiders. Do you think you can compete with them? Not likely.

Sneaky techniques are called “black hat” optimization. Won’t work. The SEs are changing constantly. You cannot find out what they do or how they do it. When someone finds a crack, they seal it up.

Linking is important. SEs love links. Site build it software includes automatic link exchanging.

Work hard to create more useful sites, more Web pages Get great software for building web sites. One that does SEO for you.

The best way to get more traffic is to have lots of pages, 100s of them, thousands are better, with relevant content (information). SEs love quality content.

If you have the right Site Build it software, the software submits to search engines automatically, as I said above.

How did you build your Web site? I hope it wasn’t one of those free web builder sites.

You see, there are lots of Web sites that will build a Web site for you. That’s where they end. Building a Web site as you probably know is only solving 5% of the puzzle. The other 95% is search engine optimization and internet marketing. Most Web Site Build It software will only do the first 5%, then they nickel and dime you to death with add-ons that purport to do SEO and internet marketing. Unfortunately most of them are scams.

So what is one to do if there is no help from your Web site building software. Do you know about NVU? This is a free web site builder that emuilates Microsofts Front Page and did I mention that it’s FREE. Go here to download: http://www.nvu.com/index.php. However, like most free Web sites it does not do SEM.

Get better software for Site Building. One that has some keyword analysis. Getting search engines to spider your Web site depends on your keyword selection.

Listen! The SEs find Web site by searching for keywords. If a Web site has the right keywords or phrases, the SEs will find it and send you to the front of the class.

But how do you know which keywords are the best. Ahhh! That’s the question and I will give you a web site that does keyword analysis and it’s free.

The Google AdWords Keyword Tool is an excellent preliminary brainstorming tool. Let’s say that you have ten ideas for a theme or Site Concept. This tool gives you a superb “high level snapshot” of how profitable each of your Site Concept possibilities might be. Here’s the URL: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal – remember, it’s free

Here’s a book you might find helpful: Increase Your Web Traffic In A Weekend by Jerry Lee Ford, Jr and William R Stanek.

Then, there is Brad Tabke’s “26 steps to 15K a day”. It boils down to solid content thoughtfully put together can make more impact than a decade’s worth of tweaks that may or may not work such as fiddling with META tags. Find his 26 steps here: (http://www.frihost.com/forums/vt-2797.html).

Brad also created and runs one of the best forums for Web site building information at: (http://www.webmasterworld.com/).

This is the exact same plan used by Site Build It. See Ken’s blog: (http://blogit.sitesell.com/waltera1.html). I’m not saying Brad stole it from Ken Evoy, but Ken developed what is known as the C + T + P + M formula.

This is how the formula works:
Create in-demand content (information) – C
Attract Targeted Traffic (visitors) – T
Presell Those Visitors – P
Monitize Presold Traffic – M

Content
Web users search for information, for solutions. They are not looking for you – they don’t even know you (yet!). They seek what you know. Give it to them. Convert your knowledge into in-demand Content. (http://ctpm.sitesell.com/waltera1.html) To succeed online, start where they start – at “the search.”

Traffic
Your topical content ranks high at the Search Engines (ex., Google, Yahoo!, MSN), attracting free, targeted (i.e., interested), open-to-you visitors. Basically, these future customers “meet you” at your site. These visitors are known as “Traffic.”.

PREsell
Complete strangers develop trust and confidence in you. Why? You “PREsell” by OVERdelivering what they seek… Relevant, original, information.

Deliver it in your own voice, in your own way. Go beyond merely instilling confidence… Your visitors will like you.

Monetize
Convert warm, willing-to-buy (“PREsold”) visitors into income. Called “Monetizing,” this is the easy part. But “M” cannot happen if you fail to first execute C T P. This is where 99% of small businesses fail.

P.S. Start a blog to promote your Web site. Word press is a good one. It you have the right Web Site Build software, it includes a blog feature so that every time you create a new page, it gets posted on the Web as a blog. Turn your blog into articles and submit them to article sites with your URL.

P.P.S. You flat out do not have enough content on your Web site. If you did the SEs would find you. You need more information, more Web pages with quality content, to attract traffic via the SEs.. One page Web sites have no no content. Create more pages. Use the content to submit articles to article Web sites. Make sure the articles refer back to your Web page. This will attract more visitors and the SEs.

P.P.P.S. Good articles on search engine marketing here – no hype – (http://www.jehochman.com/articles/).
