Sandy asks…

what are advantages/dis advantages of internet marketing?

internet marketing not internet advertising

barry0912 answers:

ADVANTAGES:
Internet marketing, also known as SEO, is typically considered the most effective form of marketing, online or offline. That is because having Internet marketing performed correctly and ethically on one’s Website allows the site to reach the most online visitors, across the most states and countries, across many search engines, for numerous keyword terms.

Other advantages include: being able to build brand recognition, a site can achieve first page keyword rankings across search engines like Google, MSN, Yahoo and others, eliminating costly PPC programs if a site is optimized naturally/organically in engines, and a site owner can see a fast ROI (return on investment).

DISADVANTAGES:
Internet marketing, while usually a monthly ongoing maintenance fee, may still seem too expensive for businesses working out of their homes or small business trying to find an affordable way to market their websites online. In addition, once an Internet marketing or SEO professional completely stops maintaining your Internet marketing program for you (and you do not considerd yourself to be a qualified professional), the rankings a site owner worked so hard to achieve in the search engines eventually drop/fall in the results (nobody working on keeping them there anymore). Getting high keyword rankings and keeping them takes ongoing commitment and time, so when nobody is there anymore to continuously work on the rankings, they will fall. One last disadvantage I can think of is that sometimes Websites simply cannot be optimized at all or have Internet marketing performed, due to a number of reasons, such as the Website was designed/built in a way that search engines cannot find or recognize pages within the site in order to optimize it (frames, flash websites, dynamic HTML pages, etc).

Your Questions About Internet Marketing

Mary asks…

Internet Marketing Websites?

I am doing some research on internet marketing. However I am having difficulty finding websites on why use interment marketing, advantages and disadvantages, how internet marketing started etc. All i can find is HOW to internet market I DON’T want this.

barry0912 answers:

Internet marketing has more pros than cons. Nowadays, many traditional businesses are leveraging the advance of internet technology to expand their businesses.

Why is that? Here is the list of pros and cons using internet marketing.

Pros:
1) Simplest and quickest way to expand your business globally. Driving more traffic or visitors to see what you have to offer.
2) Automate your sales. 24/7. That’s the reason people say you make money while you’re sleeping.
3) Less headcount to operate your business.

Cons:
1) Be aware of the dark side of online marketing, particularly when operating pay per click advertising campaign. It will suck dry your wallet if not careful.
2) Information overload. No doubt, you will see lots of how-to internet marketing. Stay focus else you will go no where. You will just spending more money on information products rather than growing your business.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Vincent

What is Internet Marketing?

barry0912 answers:

Internet marketing is sometimes called digital marketing or web marketing – basically it is your marketing strategy using the web/internet.

Samples of which are web ads, email ad/alerts, social media ads and the like. Nowadays, this kind of marketing is very popular as the market now goes mobile and more techie in a sense. Traditional ways like newpaper and magazine ads are slowly losing its appeal as more and more people use the internet to get information.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Services

Linda asks…

Has anyone sold their home through a flat-rate MLS service, and what were the results?

We are preparing to sell a $300K house and just can’t understand how a listing agent can still justify a 3% / $9K commission. Property values have increased substantially in our area, as in most, but the work the agents have to do to market properties has decreased significantly with the advent of internet marketing.

I understand the value of the buyer’s agent, bringing pre-qualified buyers to see my home, but I just can’t see paying the same commission to another agent just for listing on the MLS and coming by to stock flyers, especially when I can buy an MLS # myself through one of these services. And as for the paperwork, a real estate attorney can do it for far less.

On the downside, I can imagine that the buyer’s agents may be less enthusiastic to show such a property out of support for their industry. What experiences have you had? Are listing agents still necessary or are most people just willing to pay the 3% b/c they are so happy to hear how much their house is now worth?

barry0912 answers:

IMHO, there is a TON more work now that it is a buyers market. A couple years ago, people engaged in bidding wars to buy property. Now, there is a ton of inventory, interest rates are low and buyers are shopping around. It is a buyers market.

In the US, most areas are experiencing a price decline.

The internet does not make it easier. Everyday I get emails about a property, most are just tire kickers or want to make a ridiculously low offer on a property. At this point, I’d say 1 out of 50 prospects are actually interested in purchasing a property for fair market value.

As a listing agent, I just don’t stock flyers and wait for a buyer to come. I put up signs, advertise, send mailings, hold open houses, get your home on many websites, create a virtual tour, and bring qualified buyers through the home. Limited service agencies cannot say that. Most Realtors won’t show a property through a limited service agency, it doesn’t have anything to do with supporting the industry, but most of those sellers are so penny wise they are pound foolish. Very difficult and once a Realtor is involved, they want the Realtor to represent both sides without compensation. Ugly for the Realtor.

And you pay a limited service agency whether you sell the home or not. If I don’t sell your home, you don’t pay me a dime.

Chris asks…

What is Internet Marketing?

I’m confused with these stuff, internet marketing, search engine optimization, social media optimization, etc.. Are they all related?

barry0912 answers:

Internet marketing is the marketing of products and services using the Internet as its medium. Lower costs of dissemination of information and a global audience are its main advantages. Internet marketing also encompasses digital customer data management and electronic customer relationship management (ECRM), which are widely used in businesses today.

I’d suggest you download the ebook about internet marketing here:http://tinyurl.com/237cvqj .

What jobs can I get with a Bachelor’s in Entrepreneurship/Small Business Management degree?

I have been out of college for about two years now and have worked a lot of random jobs like receptionist, gym member specialist, personal home cook, etc… -the kinds of jobs I don’t need a degree for. I graduated with a degree that is probably more geared toward consulting than a skill related field. What other kinds of jobs should I apply for?

barry0912 answers:

I find it ironic that you got a four-year degree in entrepreneurship/business management and didn’t mention anything concerning starting and running your own business. The brainwashing of us Americans into the template of automatically looking for jobs working for someone else is very strong. Unless, of course, you’ve already considered this and have no interest in this possibility.

As a business owner, you have total control of what you do and don’t do and your rewards when/if successful are virtually unlimited. And many businesses don’t require a lot of money to start. Plus it’s possible to get money in other ways other than out of your own pockets to start your business.

If you are interested, I would consider books written by Tyler G. Hicks. He has been writing books on this subject for many years (I recently got one with a copyright of 1966) and they are very good, IMHO. The only thing out of date seems to be the dollar examples he uses based on all the inflation over the years. He is still in business today. A number of people ding his books in reviews because he doesn’t take you through the whole process step by step and sometimes plugs his other materials, but I like him. I can virtually guarantee you’ll learn from his books. A true entrepreneur doesn’t need hand-holding. Just info, guidance, encouragement and options. I recently ordered a book of his entitled, “How to Build a Second Income Fortune in Your Spare Time” with a copyright of 1965, that I would very highly recommend to you in spite of its age. I’m only up to page 75 so far but it’s very, very good. I’m very glad I bought it.

I would suggest you go to Amazon.com or some other used book sellers on the internet and see if any of his books interest you and possibly get some ideas going in your head in the fields you are most interested in.

In school did you take coursework in business formation, business law, marketing and advertising? There are many good books on these subjects and I would use the reviews on Amazon.com to find the best ones to help you. Other business books on the subjects of interest and need to you to help you be super successful should also be considered. To look for good books on legal issues and the mechanics, I’d consider Nolo.com as an initial place to look. Their books are most often high quality, although some are of course better than others.

I am presently working on starting a nonprofit. It’s pretty hard to get fired when you’re the owner of the company. Plus, you can work at any job within your company as you desire. And switch around whenever you like. Or stay small and do it all. Or start off small and expand as you need or desire to. You can also start your business part-time while working a regular job until you start making way more money in your own business. Plus you can have more than one small business going at the same time if you’re so inclined.

My opinion is it’s pretty hard to beat the advantages and potential of the job of business owner. No matter what you do, it will build on your degree and experience in your field. That’s my suggestion.

Good luck, Lala. 🙂
