Your Questions About Titleist

Thomas asks…

what is the difference in the titleist pro v1 and the prov1x?

i’ve also seen the the pro v1 2007 balls for sale, what is the difference in the 2007 balls and the other years?

barry0912 answers:

The prov1 spins more, and is meant for someone seeking more stopping capability around the green. The prov1x spins less and is meant for someone with a lot of clubhead speed looking for a bit more distance and who doesnt need any more spin around the greens.

As far as changes go from pre 2007. They are minor.

The staggered wave parting is meant to give more consistent ball flight and roll. A.I.M. Or allignment integrated marking…titleist has found the equator of the ball for you and put the little arrows to help you lign up the ball.

Also, titleist claims a softer core, better feel. Those are the big differences from one generation of golf ball to the next in the prov1/prov1x era.

Good luck

Betty asks…

Why do some Titleist AP1 look different in pictures?

When I look at pictures of Titleist AP1s sometimes they have indents on the top bar and some have just a straight bar like the ap2s

barry0912 answers:

The 2010 model looks different than the 2011 model. The same thing goes for the AP2. That may be the reason.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Degree

Carol asks…

Web marketing?

Are there degrees/courses available in web marketing? And are they worthwhile? By web marketing i mean Search Engine Optimization and such..

barry0912 answers:

There are many SEO companies that offer training programs. In addition, some universities and institutions offer certificates in Internet Marketing or Internet Programming. However, the principles behind Business Management and Marketing are similar to Internet Marketing. That said, a conventional marketer cannot be successful in internet marketing without extensive knowledge and research of the ‘net.

So I would recommend you to visit seomoz.org, and other similar SEO blogs and websites, and read all of their articles, read their blogs, take their quizzes and tutorials. At the same time, a certificate in Internet Marketing or a Bachelor’s in Business is helpful to make you successful – but many successful Search Engine Optimizers and Marketers did not have any of these credentials, they learned from real life experience.

I did a certificate in Internet Programming and I won’t say it wasn’t worth it, but it was very expensive and in hindsight I shouldn’t have spent that much money on it. Be very careful of fraud schools like CDI.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing News

Joseph asks…

How private/secure is the internet?

Just wondering, are websites allowed to keep tab on the sites you go, know your name from cookies or something etc. I’M NOT TALKING ABOUT GIVING OUT FREE INFO ON CONTESTS or whatever. Just like… right now, being on any website, what information is being taking, etc.

barry0912 answers:

Kath, like it or not the Internet is the Wild West of data…anything goes.
For starters, how’s this for ‘right now’:
Yahoo! & Google breach of trust to it’s patrons reached a new low.
Both services submissively bowed to advertising conglomerates, by adopting ‘phorm’ inspired “targeted advertising”; a ‘data siphon’ method that directs your clickstream to 3rd party advertisers, and builds a portfolio on your surf habits.
This may make your browser display pop-ups which you have no control over, and may in fact do many other un-requested actions with your entire system.

Google itself has spyware.
From their Privacy Center page
(http://www.google.com/privacy_ads.html)
“No personally identifiable information – We don’t collect or serve ads based on personal information without your permission.”
Notice the last 3 words…yet it is specifically an “Opt Out” condition!

And Gmail, once perceived to be ‘safe’, actually scans all your mail & then selects advertising based on the content. It’s “for your own good….”
http://mail.google.com/mail/help/about_privacy.html

“Google uses the DoubleClick DART cookie on our Google content network …”
These guys are the used car salesman of the internet, very ‘slippery’ characters burying their methods, details & opt out choices with layer after layer, page after page of non-sense & merry-go-round tactics plus non-functioning links, etc.
All I can say is keep trying & get as many of these tracking portfolios killed as you can.

Yahoo! Calls their invasion of privacy “Matched advertising”, and it stems from the ‘Network Advertising Initiative’ (NAI), a conglomerate of advertising kingpins and requires “Opt Out” to defray the advertising tsunami from Yahoo’s partners in this server based spyware/adware (and to stop them from creating a ‘profile’ of you).
“Opt out” sign in pages;
Yahoo here: http://info.yahoo.com/relevantads/
Google here: http://www.google.com/privacy_ads.html
NAI garbage here: http://networkadvertising.org/managing/o…
DoubleClick here: http://www.doubleclick.com/privacy/dart_adserving.aspx

**************
Yahoo has gone insane.
**CRITICAL RECENT DEVELOPMENT**
Get this: the ‘new’ Yahoo by default, allows your Yahoo! Contacts computers, to send to whatever 3rd party software they have on THEIR computer, information about you! Can you believe that!!?
This is something you must end ASAP.
Look in your mail account settings (ya, it’s buried very conveniently) and uncheck this box!

Go to your Yahoo! Mail: near the “Welcome (your name)”, tick the ‘Profile’ link; next page, upper right corner, tick ‘Settings’; next page, near the bottom is the box to uncheck.

This is spying, pure and simple.
And the deterioration of trust with Yahoo! Grows…it’s pathetic.

IMHO: the installation of the 3rd party data siphon servers, @ Yahoo & Google, et al, have for the last 4 weeks or so, been responsible for the Internet wide “glitches” and server interruptions, and is subjecting all users to massive invasion of privacy.

**********
Note: New US Court ruling “…the U.S. Federal Communications Commission that mandate telecommunications carriers must get an “opt-in” before disclosing customers’ information to a carrier’s joint venture business partner or an independent contractor.

The FCC “gave sufficient reasons for singling out the relationships between carriers and third-party marketing partners,” the court said in denying the petition for judicial review sought by the NCTA.”
http://tech.yahoo.com/news/nm/20090213/tc_nm/us_fcc_cable_court

But even this appears to be only a ‘suggestion’ from the court & may be good news; we’ll see.

barry0912 answers:

Norton Internet Security 2009 (NIS 2009) is currently the FASTEST internet security package (at 7mb memory usage only!) (beats kaspersky by 15mb)

Proof http://www.pcauthority.com.au/Review/127995,norton-internet-security-2009-believe-the-hype.aspx

NIS 2009 has the lowest system usage (therefore fastest) product on the market. With high a detection rate of 92% on par with Kaspersky.

Norton Internet Security 2009 is the Fastest (more proof)

http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/news/index.cfm?newsid=104478

Also answerers must understand, a free anti-virus alone can’t fully protect a system.

By the time of answering this, NIS 2010 has just been released. Faster than ever and using new reputation-based technology, this eliminates the old signature-based scanning and opens new potentials for nexgen security.

Your Questions About Internet Marketing Strategies

Donna asks…

Marketing Timeline?

Could some of you internet business owners tell me how you started your business, your marketing timeline? What did you do first and then after you got started. Press release? Media? SEO work?

barry0912 answers:

Marketing is a continuous everyday work. You do everything simultaneously because there is no single way where you can get traffic so you need to make sure that every possible source of traffic is reached

My suggested timeline is:

BEFORE LAUNCHING THE WEBSITE

– Do an extensive keyword research analysis. SEOBook.com has a very good listing of free tools http://tools.seobook.com/ that you can use to research the keywords for your site including: keyword density, determining the keywords you want to target, who are your competitors for your targeted keywords.

– Start mapping out your link strategy. You need to start making a list of who should link to you and where you can request for links.

– Start thinking of how you can get the word out about your business. Do you plan on writing articles? Will you harness viral marketing? Be sure to equip your site with tools Get a Recommend this Site script from websites such as cgiscripts.com and similar directories of scripts. Some even go as far as giving incentives to those who recommend the site to their friends. If only 10 people go to your site, but these 10 people invite 10 more – that’s additional traffic that you get for FREE!

Recommend Site Scripts (various) http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Big Nose Bird Recommend this Site http://bignosebird.com/carchive/birdcast.shtml
CGI Resource Index http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Hostscripts http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Site_Recommendation/index.html

– Beta test your site and start inviting people (if applicable). If you are planning a social networking site for example, you can do a soft-launch for your site and invite people you know or friends of your friends to try out the site. This way you can iron out the kinks before you do your full blast marketing

UPON LAUNCHING

– Make sure your on-page factors (e.g. Title, metatags, keyword densities) are right on-target

– Issue a press release announcing the launch of your new site. Press releases are also a way to get inbound one-way links to your website. Here are some places where you can submit your press release for free

http://www.prleap.com/sign_up.html
http://i-newswire.com/

http://www.theopenpress.com/
http://www.przoom.com/
http://www.prweb.com
http://www.newswiretoday.com/
http://www.free-press-release.com/

– Submit your site to the major search engines. If you are going to read only one piece on search engine optimization, I suggest you read Brett Tabke of WebmasterWorld.com’s “Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day.” http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm

SEO for Google http://www.powerhomebiz.com/052006/google.htm

SEO for MSN http://www.powerhomebiz.com/052006/msn.htm
Tying It Together: SEO For The Big Three http://www.powerhomebiz.com/052006/seo.htm

– Start submitting requests for links. You will find that some will not link to you because you have 0 pagerank because your site is new. But start submitting to DMOZ and other directories and build your pagerank

– Do offline marketing. Whether you are planning to print brochures or do direct marketing, now is also the time to do them

AFTER YOU LAUNCH

– Try to do marketing at least 1 hour every day – whether asking for reciprocal links, submitting articles or submitting your site to directories

– Keep abreast of what’s happening with the search engines.

– Do email marketing or send a newsletter on a regular basis

Robert asks…

Piano Store Marketing Strategy?

I have invested in a Piano Store recently and was wondering what would be the best means of communicating with my target customer i.e. younger parents with kids in the range 5-10.

Does anybody have any experience with creating a Marketing Plan or Strategy for a Piano Store?

If I was to tie-in with a Brand or product; what would be the best options?

Any suggestions please?

barry0912 answers:

Although it predates the record album as an entertainment source, I guess your business has not entirely vanished yet, but it certainly has to be marketed differently than 20 years ago, I assume the manufacturers touch on traditional family values, as well as the decorative value of a traditional instrument.

One potential method to reach a small number of local prospects may be with paid Facebook advertisements, their demographic targeting is quite powerful, you can have ads only appear for married women between 25 and 40 who live in cities in close proximity to your location, there may be an “interest” like piano playing you may be able to target as well, they show you the potential reach of members a given ad setting would have, you could have such ads send people to a free Facebook business page.
While on the subject of internet resources you for sure need to have (and probably already do) a free Google Places page, they may provide a generic listing automatically, but you need to claim it and improve the content with more lengthy text, photos an potentially even video.

Sorry I m not more in touch with how kids are introduced to e piano these days, perhaps you can be a sponsor of some school events for the publicity and music evangelist opportunities, there are some cities (where the weather is friendly) that have old pianos in public places setup by some non profits.

Your Questions About Titleist

Ruth asks…

How much for a Tiger Woods autographed Titleist ball?

Back in the late 90’s I got a Tiger Woods autographed Titleist ball with a COA for a Christmas present. I heard rumor he is not signing anymore balls. Do you have any idea how much it’s worth.

It’s in a hard plastic protector and has never been taken out.
Thanks but I don’t want to sell it, I am just wondering about what it is worth.
After researching it further they are going for about $3000 +.

I think I’ll put it in a safe place for a while.
